I'd like to take a moment and be serious - yes, it can happen, and does more often than many of you think, this wonderful site is a vent of sorts for me to occasionally be [slash]anti-[/slash] silly... Many of you have voiced/shared your concerns, and I respect that, and see the merit. You're vexations are not fully un-grounded, and you've brought up a property I previously had not thought of. Granted, I do play the "political correctness" game, so if it's not deliberately outright malicious, I don't see something as offensive. And that's just the point. I've been unable to prognosticate a situation where a quote taken out of context can be particularly racist, sexist, speciesist, whateverist. That doesn't mean it can't be so, I just can't fathom it. Most of the comments that would/should be put here would be ones that talk about a shaving related incident, but if you walked into an elevator when someone said it, without proper context, your mind might go to a context a little more "intimate". Which is why I suggested quoting the original post in its entirety, so that the ones perusing could go back and see the correct context, and thus may participate in a thread they may have otherwise ignored. Maybe some ground rules: DO NOT BE MALICIOUS ...there's not place for that crap here. I'll call Dom and have him bring the bat... IF YOU SEE YOUR POST HERE AND CAN'T TAKE THE JOKE ...let the poster or a Mod know, politely, that you'd rather not have it referenced here. I'm sure it can be quickly and pleasantly dealt with. DO NOT BE MALICIOUS ...I can kick above your head, so your head is an easy enough target... IF YOU'RE OFFENDED BY MATERIAL THAT'S NOT OFFENSIVE ...Put a helmet on! THIS ISN'T A "SLAM" THREAD ...keep personal biases checked at the door Again, I respect and appreciate the feedback here, though it has killed a little bit of the "buzz" it originally had for me. I like to see the gentlemanly act of chivalry and looking out for one another, but there gets to a point of over-governed and lacking genuineness, which is something I think this site tries to not do (thus dirty jokes section - heck, a joke section at all!) After all, we're not saying anything bad about anyone, just revealing the dark side of our own minds by saying "ha, I read your line waaaay wrong". This should work much like the Coincidence thread, where something totally innocent looks totally wrong in a different light.
