Wow, that guy sounds like a real jackass. He probably won't be in business much longer, and does not seem to know how to run a business. I bought my Col. Conks soap for $6.50, and that was at a retail store with stellar selection and service, so $20 at a store with horrible service is completely nuts. Long ago, I saw a few stores that pulled the same nonsense - ripoff prices with an angry owner who would say something like "If you don't like it then go somewhere else!" or "Get out of here!" when asked if they could come down a little on the price. Those stores soon disappeared, replaced by better run rivals with reasonable prices.
I know retail stores hate competing with e-Bay etc. And I don't blame them for getting upset. But he is obviously over priced. And the reason you go to a brick and mortar store is the service. You don't get the one on one service from the internet that you get in person. He obviously has forgotten that. If he's rude and overpriced. He wont stand a chance.
That's absolute garbage still though. You should consider writing him a letter saying his behaviour was terrible and you're not only not shopping there, but as a Shave Den member are discouraging others from shopping there as well. Mention this is because of his actions and not specifically the prices. That'll change his tune.
I doubt it will. Maybe he doesn't want to sell the Conk. Maybe he'd rather move some other product. Who knows? But it's his job to run his business. Not ours.
I have seen merchants like this before, they refuse to believe their behavior is the cause of their downfall. They believe they own the business and decide how to operate it. Then when sales plummet they blame the economy or the full moon. The best way to handle them is to walk out and find a merchant that cares. Paul
