PAL on the Prairie! Days 3 and 4 After a little angle adjustment, and a new grip from @twhite , two great shaves ensued! Apologies on a lack of updates yesterday, but apparently some dudes in Nigeria decided that a shaving site was a fun target. This is a solid razor, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for vintage injector close shaves. All of my issues were technique related, and when you get this razor dialed in, it's extremely comfortable and reliable. @cliffb599 is up next...the PAL will hit the road tomorrow. Thanks again Tom for the chance at this, it was a cool experiment! Have a great week everyone!

It is a nice razor and gives great shaves. It's sad that there aren't many of these to be found on eBay. Be patient and you'll find one.

I have now had two intimate morning encounters with the PAL. A little background: I've been wet shaving for maybe nine months now. My first razor was the Merkur 33C, and it remains my favorite (with my little experience). I have a RazoRock Jaws which is a bit too heavy and aggressive, but I use it from time to time. I also have a vintage ball tech which is too mild. So take this all with a grain of salt. I've never "reviewed" a shave before....this may be total gibberish! But here goes: This was my first exposure to an injector razor. I ordered a package of Schick blades, so the first task was to figure out how to load the thing. A 20 second YouTube cleared that up....the blade loaded easily. Day 1: Stirling Menthol pre-shave soap > homemade pre-shave oil > Parker badger brush > Stirling Orange Chill soap > PAL > Stirling Island Man after aftershave balm On the first morning I had two days of growth and started off with a *little* trepidation. Somehow I had the impression that these razors are much more aggressive with more of a bite. After all, it's a stiff, thick blade (at least compared to a DE). I was surprised at how smooth the first WTG pass felt. No tug, no opened arteries, nothing. I proceeded through my standard shave: a second ATG pass above the neck, and two more passes on my jaw/neck (one south to north, one sideways....who can keep track of what's WTG/ATG/XTG on the chaos that is one's neck whiskers???). Now the moment of truth....clean the razor and brush, rinse off, put the glasses back on, and look in the mirror: not a speck of red to be seen. Very smooth shave, no burn or weepers or nicks. Day 2: Stirling Menthol pre-shave soap > homemade pre-shave oil > Parker badger brush > Proraso Green soap > PAL > Stirling South Padre after aftershave balm This morning I only had one day's growth. Same smooth first pass. As I rinsed after the first pass I turned on the more analytical part of my brain, and concluded that I did not feel as smooth as I typically do after a first pass with the Merkur. I continued to go through the additional passes, and noticed that - while the first WTG pass was very "quiet" (literally) - there was a lot of "feedback" when I was shaving ATG or XTG. And it didn't "quiet down" after a stroke or two. However, I was definitely reducing stubble. After I was done I had one minor weeper, and a very smooth shave. BUT, not as smooth as I have recently gotten from the Merkur with a good blade. Of the four razors that I now have experience with, I would rank this the second best. I could definitely live with this and enjoy using it. However, my goal is to find *the* razor (not use a rotation of razors), and at this point the Merkur is still king! I definitely appreciate the opportunity to try this out, and am looking forward to the Schick adjustable pass-around. I'll use the PAL a couple more times (and share any additional thoughts) and then send it on to....WHO??? SOMEONE ELSE SIGN UP FOR THIS!
