Palmolive shaving stick - great stuff, and very reasonably-priced.

It's one of the best sticks around.

How does it compare to Arko?

Better than Arko, the lather is thicker and creamier, while the Arko to me is lighter and airier.

I prefer the Palmolive stick to Arko, but Arko is a decent product, I still think Valobra makes the best stick.

Well, I bought one. Now, what's the best way to use this product? Apply direct to the face, grate and press in to mug, or do what was suggested above and cut it in half and press in to a mug.

Totally up to you. To use it as a traditional stick, wet your brush, wet your face, some folks wet the end of the stick, rub the stick all over your whiskers, then whip up a lather right on your face with the brush.
I'm not crazy about sticks, personally.
I use a cheese grater and shred my Speick into a bowl, cover it with a piece of wax paper, then use another bowl to press it and pack it down tight.
I have a stick if Irisch Moos that I've left as a stick just to experience using a proper stick every now and then.

Grate the stick into a glass bowl and press into a puck of sorts, good stuff, good price.
Half dozen sticks set aside for the zombie apocalypse :scared011:.

I just wet my face thoroughly then rub the stick all over my face, and paying a bit more attention to the spots that are prone to get nicked. I also like to preload the brush just a bit, so I hold the stick upside down and rub the brush on the stick.

Mantic has a video on using sticks, he called it "wet shaving travel ideas + shave sticks". Just look up mantic59 on you tube, and look for that video. He always has some great information.

I'm sending somebody a Palmolive stick. He'll like it - I'm not worried about that!

Can anyone tell me how many shaves do I get out of 1 Palmolive stick ? I can order 1 or 10 from England, the delivery price is the same. I just wonder what do I do with 10 sticks if I don't like them ?

You'll like them, it's a great product. If not, PIF them!

Sounds like I gotta get my hands on a couple of these. I like the Palmolive European Cream a lot, so perhaps I will try this. I think I would end up grating it into a bowl though, I'm not much for face lathering.

I love the Palmolive shave stick, very cheap over here in the UK, around 50p each, I have half a dozen stashed away for a rainy day,( guess what it's just started to rain)!!!!

Palmolive stick is good enough that if it had a fancy name and cost 5x what it does nobody would bat an eye. It will always be in my permanent rotation. Just ordered a few more sticks in case the several I already have should get lonely... :)

blanka I will not eat my shaving products. Promise.

    +1

I have several sticks in reserve, but it is one of the best shaving values out there. Their menthol shaving cream is also excellent!
