And I hear ya on the possibly /probably exaggerated stories. I think sometimes my father stumbled into the land of make believe with some of his stories

I think Pecan could be a Russian word. Therefore, it should be pronounced

"Ress Ann"

 

I catch myself saying pee-CON, other times PEE-con.

Saying puh-CAN is just un-American.

 

I was raised calling them pee kahns. Had a pee khan tree in the neighbor's front yard.

 

Those are generally considered distinctly different hookups. At least they were the last time I went purchasing plumbing supplies.
