Aha, I was wondering about nicotine addiction. Most pipe smokers seem to push it aside by comparing it to cigarettes. It seems that despite filters and not inhaling, nicotine is still quite a major factor although much less so than cigarettes. I don't fancy being addicted to nicotine. Maybe in 40 - 50 years when it won't make much difference I'll take up the pipe. Thanks to everybody who has responded, I've learnt a lot. Its a pity that there wasn't such a thing as nice nicotine free tobacco (not herbal stuff).
Here are a couple of pictures of a pipe my buddy made me. He only uses the finest Tasilli (spelling??) Briar. It smokes beautifully. It is my Latakea blend pipe.
I myself own 24 burley pipes. Occassionally, some Old Gowrie or Squadron Leader will sneak in but for the most part, I lean toward Codger Burlies.
