Bravo, spoken like a true Codger Burley man! I'm also a big fan of the much maligned old school American burlies. Carter Hall is representative of the genre, not spendy, not fancy, just consistently good. Prince Albert is my go to in the genre. Carter Hall (IMHO) tastes alot like Prince Albert Light. A half and half (no pun intended) mixture of the two is pure codger burley nirvana.
I've noticed that a lot of pipe people recommend Carter Hall as a good break-in tobacco for pipes. I recommended to my mom's boyfriend when I recently gifted him with a pipe.
