I have 3 vintage GBD pipes at home, and my favorite pipe tobacco is still Prince Albert whenever I can find it.
Think he was saying "TOP" as in T.O.P.....fron the TSD abbreviation dictionary? Pipe Smoker here, working on a Savannah (GA) local blend called "Midnight in the Garden", and some Blue Note. Cigars too, but lately I've been unwilling to pay the damned high prices for 'em!

I have a starter pipe (no brand good quality briar), bent stem standard. I've smoked brown flake fro Ed's Pipe Shop (Los Angeles) AKA The Tinder box. Pretty darn good. Google Ed's Pipe shop. It's one of the few traditional Tobacconiers left around these here parts.
Tobacconists area dying breed for sure. It's a PC world and it's taking all the fun out of life. Viva la decadence!
There are a few good ones, but they are like everybody else...under pressure from the online world. Just look at some of the suggestions made right here in this thread! (Nothing wrong with that, BTW) Anyway, I know of a few good tobacconists in this region that I can still get to. Pipe smoking is such a small part of the overall market that no one really pays too much attention. But yeah, the gov. and the PC crowd will ruin it for all of us eventually. But they went after "big" tobacco, and now they are talking about raising the tax caps on cigars EXPONENTIALLY! All these smoking bans! Oy! So if more guys take up pipes, we'll be next! I only wish Lovie understood what is happening. She gives me so much grief every time I order a tin or 5 Really tho... we must stock pile our baccy now cause who knows when the supply will cease? I figure, if I am disciplined...... I have about a 5 yr stock on hand. Thats a bowl - a - day average. Not enuff.
Issac: Start a thread with tips for Hookah smoking. ........I have one that doesnt see much action. and tell me about some of your favorite tobacco(s). Ive smoked some in the past but the fruit flavored baccy just dont cut it for me.
Same here the kids at work brought in banana flavored baccy. It was so sticky and wet, and smelled like rotten bananas. The taste was grossly banana and no tobacco. ATM smoking some Syrian full balkan in a Dr Grabow Regal.
Guess I was not much help to your Hookah. BTW you can mix up the baccy (suprised you havent done this), like try orange/mint.
I dont know alot about hookahs....my brother has one..and since ive moved to NY i havent smoked...but there are a few bars here in the city and my sister is in town....so i might go try them out.
