anyone have/shoot the Taurus 24/7? When it first came out it won hand gun of the year, and when I handled one at a show I loved the feel. Curious to hear from someone with experience with one.
Thanks for the Props Morrie, I take my profession very seriously! I've known a lot of people that have had great experience with the Hi-Points. I may even consider buying one someday, but it would never be my regular carry gun or a duty weapon. They are a cheaper manufacturer. I like to play it safe. Hell, I've known people that like the Chevette and the Yugo too, but I wouldn't own one of those either. That was a very inaccurate statement. The majority of states allow them. I had one from the state of Washington and it was accepted over more than half of the country. Me too! This is the bottom line. Laws only effect law abiding citizens. Banning anything only stops those good law abiding citizens from doing or having it. Those countries talk about stabbings and murder by the blade as much and in some cases more than we talk about guns. Yup! Absolutely.
A little off topic since it is not a pistol, but I have a Hi-Point 9mm carbine that I purchased for home defense and plinking. Fun gun for plinking. I got the thing for under $200, and I will be shooting at the range, and people with guns over $1k will come over to ask about it. I have never had a jam, (over 2000 rounds through it) and it is very accurate. The barrel is long enough that you don't need a permit to purchase, but short enough that I would feel comfortable coming around a corner in my house if the need arises. I threw on a laser for sheer bad guy intimidation factor. (I am not getting in to the gun control argument.)
I've been thinking of picking that up. It's sure a heckuva lot cheaper to plink with than any other home defense rifle . . . ya gotta love 9mm!
I hate to dig up an old thread, but Im curious too. Oh, and the thing about it being next to impossible to get a CCW Permit in NY isnt true (at least not everywhere). Its done county by county. A lot of them you have to go in front of a judge and explain your "need" for a CCW:mad:. At which point they will issue a restricted license (if any) that allows you to keep it at home or bring it to the range. The county I live in; so long as you fill out the paperwork, get fingerprinted and your background check is ok you get a full carry license. It takes a couple of months, which doesnt make any sense but I guess its better than living in Illinois. After watching Indiana Jones, I took his advice and decided that I shouldnt bring a knife to a gun fight. (Disclaimer: If I knew I were getting into a gunfight I wouldnt actually even go, but if I did I would bring a rifle and lots of friends with rifles):transport024
I wish I could say I've shot one myself, but I do know a few people who really love theirs. While I won't deny others their right to an opinion on the matter, I'll never understand all the Taurus hate. I own one of their .44 mag revolvers and acquired a PT92 (Beretta 92 clone) earlier this year. Though I cannot say I've put 'thousands' of rounds through either of them, I've yet to experience a single malfunction from either. They are smooth, solid, accurate, and I would trust my life to either of them if the situation arose. :1respect That being said, the best weapon in the world for you is the one with which you are most comfortable and proficient. Find one that feels right to you, shoot it often, keep it clean, know its limits and your own. Just my $.02
No I have not decided yet, well haven't gotten. But the Beretta 92 fits me like a glove. Always has. I hear CCW is pretty easy in AZ? If I join the Posse I do not think I will have any trouble and as soon as the Dept. of Corrections hires me (still in the pool) it will still probably not be to hard. In the meantime I have no need for a weapon at work. Cops love QT, when fresh doughnuts are in.... I don't blame them one bit, the long johns are delish.
Arizona is an open carry state still yes.. I carried all over the place there. Not hard to get a CCW all straight forward. I wish all the States had that good of gun laws.
I second the part about states with good gun laws. Lived in GA, it was a must issue state. They get your prints, do their research (GBI & FBI) and as long as you're clean, you get your carry permit. Now live in IA, and it is up to each Sherif, county by county. You need a good enough reason.
I recently received my late mom's 2 .357 magnums. Need to register them and clean them up but they are pretty. and yes, Joker foe, donuts are yummy to us cops. your friend, Batmanuel.
It ain't the fifth :happy102 Oh you have no idea, Mesa cops, Gilbert cops, even cops with chicken pox. Sorry about your mom. Must have been one tough lady, I remember firing a snubnose 357, heck of a kick.
Yea that kinda stuff sucks... I got to get me one of those for here. I had one in AZ but have not gotten one here.
