    Currently:

    1. 3 Pass shave
    2. Rinse with warm water
    3. Shower
    4. Dry face and apply Nieva Post Shave Balm.
    5. Wait 5 mins then apply splash of clubman pinaud aftershave.

    Question:

    1. Is it wrong to apply the BALM and then AFTERSHAVE?
    2. or should I be using just 1 of the 2?

    thanks
    Steve

I sometimes use both and but usually I apply Aftershave then Balm last.

Nothing wrong with either way in my opinion.

It's your shave, enjoy it as you will.

That said, since you're showering directly after the shave, the aftershave splash is really just going to be a perfume more than anything else. The balm could also be replaced with a regular moisturizing lotion for the same reason.

I apply balm after the splash. That way it doesn't feel like I'm washing off the moisturizer =)

I shower before I shave, it prepares the stubble for the shave =)

well I know your suppose to shower 1st....but i get really bad irritation on my neck and it is rather red and bleed in trouble areas. (under the ears far end of each neck) always bleed a little. With a shower after and balm, clears it right up!

Im trying to find the correct razor / blade combo to avoid this.

Ive tried showering before it doesnt do much for my neck area.

I do run my face under hot water (i have a large sink in my bathroom so its no big deal).

You should only shower first if it works for you.:D

You not 'supposed' to do anything first. Do what you'd like. There's nothing wrong with what you're doing now, people are just critiquing what you do because you've asked us to. If what you're doing now has the least amount of irritation and is enjoyable, keep doing it.

    Mine post shave in order...

    1) Rinse skin repeatedly with cold water.
    2) Alum block then wait two minute, let dry on face.
    3) Rinse again, then PAT dry.
    4) Menthol WH, allow to dry
    5) AS (AV, Skin Bracer or Clubman type...or TSD IcedSubzero)
    6) Enjoy my great shave!

I guess I am lucky...I don't have too many irritation issues anymore.

    +1

    If it works, it's "right".

Aftershave and balm , just going to wash it all off in the shower , so I wouldn't use until I got out. Tc

Sorry seen you do apply after the shower. Keep on keeping on. Tc

I used to shower afterwards for the same reasons. However, my technique is improving and I'm not as marked up after shaving. You will likely experience the same with time. I now find the shave much more satisfying after a shower.
