Inspired by a thread over on the TSR forum I thought it would be fun to see, and show off, what "cool" (define that any way you want) DE razors you have in your collection and/or rotation. Here are some that might be in my 'top 20-25 list' in my 'cool' DE razors list; 1) Wilkinson Flip Top 2) Simplex 3) Gillette Slim Twist Deluxe 4) Williams and O'Chelly 'hollow' razors 5) The Gillette Psycho 6) The Tradere OC 7) The Float-O-Flex with internal spring 8) The Gillette Double Ring 9) The Tre Teste 10) The Blackland Blackbird by @ShaneS 11) The Pils 101NE 12) The Mergress 13) Apollo DE w/ scalloped head 14) Vintage German 15) Leresche #77 16) Meehan 17) Berkeley Custom Shaver 18) Strivel, Swedish DE razor with built in stropping mechanism 19) King Oscillating 20) Schick Platinum DE 21) Famex 22) M.Peroni 23) Swedish Swing
After seeing your exemplary gallery of DE razors, I doubt anyone would wish to bother posting any follow-up images..... (razor inferiority complex)
Yeah that's the problem as soon as you enter the world of collecting - you end up with so many razors that you really love but can't fit them all into a rotation. Lately I've been attempting to go through them all and rate them - and I'm horribly behind on my schedule to get this done by end of the year...sigh....but sometimes I simply pick a razor because it looks fun and/or haven't used it in a long time be it an SE, DE, injector, cartridge or straight
"Can't fit them all into a rotation." I don't understand. Is there a limit to the number of razors one can have in a rotation? By only getting to use a razor once every six weeks, is that wrong? I, Sir, then choose to be wrong ( to go along with the complex you have given me).
no pics 1) futur 2) grand shave king self lubricating 3) Berkeley Custom Shaver 4) Muhle r41 rose gold handle 5)Rolls razor set 6) MY granddad's slim 7) MY dad's super adjustable 8) Merkur progress 9) Ikon shavecraft 101 10) MY homemade new standard I'm pretty blessed.
I guess that's a fair point..is there a 'time limit' on frequency that disqualifies a razor from being called out as being 'in rotation'. If I used one razor once every 8-13 months is it in my rotation or is it a random pick up? I guess its one of these things we define for ourselves.
That Tradere OC is a really nice looking razor. I have the SB but missed out on the OC. I'm waiting on my Blackland Blackbird razor. you have a great collection. Thanks for sharing.
Well i think your rotation is defined by how many razors you have. So it appears you my friend have a very large rotation. It is pretty awesome that you can use a different razor every day and not repeat for months on end. It keeps shaving new every time. I bet it keeps you on your toes. Tom
By definition within the context of razors, "regularly recurring succession*," thus it is not random. *dictionary.reference.com And I still have a complex - sweet razors you have!
But lets say, for sake of argument, that I have six razors. Every morning I roll a dice and I pick the razor based on the number that comes up. Even though the selection process is random I'd still argue that these six razors are in my rotation. Ok, I really need to brave the rain and get out
@Darkbulb a) I really don't understand what's taking the Queen so long to change your CT, especially after this thread. and b) What's the deal with the float-o-flew? Internal spring you mentioned, but for what? To "float" the head? Looks interesting also. How does it shave? Beautiful collection.
