Hey man.....Very hip stroll through a show at the Darkbulb Razor Gallery.....I love this place.....Please put one of these together over at the SE and Injector Party....I'm a big fan of your work...
"To have a complex or to be complex.....that is the question....Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the collectable razors and blades of outrageous fortune. Or to take arms against a sea of whiskers......."
It was a pleasure meeting you and your Shake Sharps at the Shave-con this year Ryan.....You and those razors are uniquely original....
too bad, such a beautiful razor. stinkin' proprietary blades. that's my biggest complaint about several razors I'd like. Cooper, segal, ronson, cobra, mongoose..... I personally don't have the resources to get drawn out into a tangent. I got into all this to shave cheaper. I'll prolly keep that line in the sand. I'm done ranting now, I'm sorry, it's precoffee here. very nice razor.
I feel your pain and truly understand. I have a couple vintage Enders and Durham Duplex es with spare blades if I ever want to use them but the Ronson is just to amazing not to have in my collection. The rest of my gear uses standard blades or I don't buy them.
strike the Grand Shave King self lubricating razor from my list. it fell victim to tile flooring. sorta makes me sick. totally destroyed. for those who questioned the making of those fine old razors, the center screw looked like zamak, definitely not brass. possibly aluminum.
I've got three "special" (i.e. "cool") razors IMHO. In front is my Great Uncle's Old Type given to me by my 90 year old Aunt. (Her father passed away in the 1930's.) Standing is my 24 kt 1958 Executive (related by RazorPlate) and then my black and white rhodium plated 1958 "Black Handle Super Fat Boy" (custom plated by RazorPlate).
The one for $42 is at the top of my spending limit and in OK condition but I don't dig the taped up repair of the boxes broken hinges. Honestly if I am paying for a box, it has to be in one piece and good condition. The rest are way out of my price range, especially that gold one. Then again the fact I paid seventy bucks for a cased 47 near mint aristocrat drove me bonkers but that has enough potential resale value that I can justify it (barely). Why yes I am cheap, but I have standards as well.
I don't have any cool razors. I sent away my Stahly because I didn't like it. All I have are basic user grade razors. Old type, Super Speed, Fat Boy, Stirling, Gem MMBT, Gem featherlight, type G1 injector, Type B3 repeater, a russian 3 piece that I can't type the name of because I can't figure out how to type in Cyrillic, a Rolls with a '35 dated blade, a no name parker style shavette, and a box of straight razor blades in need of restoration. I'm shocked that no one posted a razor in a freezer yet.
