    Yup. Soak. Lather. Shave.

Good prep is part of good technique, and good technique is all-important.

As many folks here know, I am a big proponent of pre-shave oils. See the Tutorial section for an easy recipe.

For more time constrained mornings, applying a shave stick lightly before adding mug soap-then face lathering, provides almost as good prep. I still use oil, and let it sit, when I have time.

I haven't been letting the lather stay on my face long, it dries up very quickly. Am doing something wrong. I don't have a shaving bowl over here but I have a little metal bowl. Maybe I'll try a coffee cup to rest the brush in.

Try a little more water in the lather. You can always dip your brush tips in some water and freshen it up on your face if it's getting dry too.

Not only more water in the lather but make sure your face is as wet as it can be pre-lathering

Once you have the hot towel on your face while laying back on the bed, put a dry hand towel on top of the wet towel to keep it from cooling off so quickly. You can't fall back to sleep because you're so excited about shaving again!

I have been trying hair conditioning during shower and it works great.
I will buy proraso preshave though, because I have been wanting to try it out.
Will have a run on the hot towel too, never try it before.

I have been using olive oil after a hot shower, as a pre-shave. works great and my face feels mosturized throughout the day. My face hasn't broken out so im going to continue using it.

Hmmm ...olive oil on my face would be convenient when I don't like the salad dressing choices too.

Im a messy eater so Its a win-win when it comes to eating salad. while im eating if people say "you have olive oil on you face", I say "I know, its part of my pre-shave ritual".

I definitely have to try the hot towel technique. I shave before showering because my mirror gets all fogged up, otherwise.
