The wedge material arrived from @TestDepth , Camel Bone, and synthetic Turquoise. Decisions decisions.
Well, I'm trudging along. Today, I drilled the pin holes, and made the Wedge. I chose the Camel Bone, because it looked a little more elegant, with the Honey Horn Scales. That, and the 12 yr old daughter insisted. I had several types of materials to choose from, and this is what I was leaning towards, also. So, like I've said: This is my first complete build, and I am going slow. That being said, the wedge is installed, and pinned. But, to make sure the wedge stays put, I used some Cyano Acetate. I will then trim, and fit the edges, in place, in a couple of days, when dry. I did put a pivot pin in, to keep the alignment straight. Oh, I did go with the Rosette Type Collars.
Finished with the restoration part. Everything went well. The only drawback to this was that Honey Horn is very unforgiving, of ANY imperfections, or mistakes. It is very transparent. So, For this being my first Scale Build, from scratch, what are your thoughts? Anything that I could have done differently? Anything needing to be corrected, or addressed?? Next will be the honing. Sorry for the heavy pics. With the mirror polished blade, it is hard to get a good shot. I prefer a satin finished blade.
