Ok. They are nearly identical. The Omega has Eucalyptus and Eucalyptus compounds whereas Red does not. Red has the wheat protein and Omega does not. Rolls thinks the wheat adds that little something extra in the Red. I have no reason to doubt him so that's probably it. The Omega is a great shave too though. The lanolin does the trick I think. Thanks for the pic Chris. Since Mike is so enamored of it I guess I won't be scoring a tube.
I'm still trying out as many soaps/creams that I can, but the one I keep going back to is Proraso Green. Would love to give the Red a go, so I'm anxious to see how this experiment develops.
You can find lanolin at your local Wal-mart (or any other store). Just go to the baby section - there is a tube of the stuff under the brand Lansinoh - It is marketed for soothing a particular irritation unique to nursing mothers. I use it on my feet occasionally. Very thick stuff at room temp.
I always thought this cream was marketed as Wheat Germ and Eucalyptus. Where's the Eucalyptus in the ingredients?
The Red Proraso cream has no eucalyptus, and a very, beautiful scent. As I said before, it's the best cream Proraso ever made. (at least to me)
So basically the major differences (besides fragrance) are: P-Green: Eucalyptus Leaf Oil + Eucalyptol (listed as 2 separate ingredients.) P-Red: Wheat Germ Oil + Wheat Protein + Lanolin Omega: Eucalyptus Leaf Oil + Lanolin
All this talk of Proraso Red convinced me to finally place an order with Razor and Brush for a tube of the stuff. I love Musgo Real with the lanolin, so I thought I should give this stuff a try. I am not really a fan of the Green - great lather, but the scent just gets to me.
I love the hard to find stuff but for some reason dont have any curiosity about this one? I guess the Omega was such a pleasant shave and honestly love the scent of it. Wheat germ reminds me of the stuff in clear bottles near the laxatives also But if it works then go for it! Would like to see how the people that havent tried it like it when they get it though. Mike will give an 100% unbiased review of it!
This one does tend to get better reviews than Coates Lime! I've always been curious about this one, and was stupid enough to not snatch up a couple tubes back when it was first discontinued and C. O. Bigelow was selling them for $5 a tube on their website. I was too new to all of this back then, and the AD's hadn't kicked in yet.
