Come On! SLS is used in engine degreasers, floor cleaners, and car wash soaps. It's wholesome goodness. Just like mom used to make...
I don't know, rolls. Look guys, you have to realize I won't be able to exactly duplicate every little nuance of Proraso Red. I'm trying to provide a suitable substitute. I'll do my best, and the testers will have to do their best in helping me refine the product.
OMG this is the best news! Proraso Red is one of my all time favorites... Joanna, I really hope that you succeed.... and without SLS? Even Better!!! What about parabens? Proraso Red is loaded with them, which was the only thing I didn't like. Yet, I bought tons of the stuff.
Not freaked out, just curious. From the reading I have been doing, it seems that you will most likely be making a safer product than the actual P-red. rrr
One question for JoAnna....is the scent of proraso easy to replicate? Of course I dont know what the Red version smells like either. But I do enjoy the original Proraso scent.
Proraso red has a very subtle scent--nothing like P green. SLS is also in a lot of toothpastes in the event no one has mentioned that already. So now you can have something in common with your rebuilt engine!
The funny thing is, she already has products that out perform many of the high end makers. For her to make a P-red clone that is actually better than the original is very likely.
The point that everybody is missing is that regardless of how close her version is to Proraso Red, it will have one decided advantage - you will still be able to buy hers.
In an interesting aside, it is probably because the original Proraso Red has parabens that we are still able to find stockpiles of the stuff and horde them to use. Parabens are preservatives. Remove them, and any stockpiles of this stuff would probably be worthless pretty quickly. If TSD is going to have a new version to use, that will still be in production, then parabens are probably less necessary. But for long term stashes, you would probably want some kind of preservative, or you are back to the days where consumables had a much shorter shelf life.
Im just looking forward to the final product. I dont plan on gobbling down cupfuls of parabens and honestly dont think.....well know that they cant permeate the skin but do a damn good job at preserving. I have bought 2 vintage SC's w/o parabens that have sucked beyond belief! Back to the subject! Looking forward to it!
JoAnna- The PR cream is now on it's way to you. I put enough in for around 6-7 shaves. Please let me know if you need more.
