I was looking at Puma straight razors on Ebay a few weeks ago and came across a Puma safety razor that uses two blades stacked on top of each other separated by a cap. Kind of interesting looking and a little strange at the same time. Here are some pictures from the Ebay sellers listing. Oh, it is listed for $69. buy it now plus $9. shipping from Germany.
Well, so much for riding the cap. It almost looks like it was designed to be held like a cart razor and used with the side flat against your face.
Wow it really bends the blade. Like you said , probably so it's held like a cartridge. But hard to imagine the advantage over a single blade DE. You will probably have to go through two blades just as fast as one. The other observation is that there is no where for the lather from the top blade to move. So maybe the top blade makes a quick shallow cut, moving some lather down and the bottom blade does the heavier cutting. Curious if it's made of chromed brass or if it's zinc alloy. Couldn't find out what it is made from, but there is another brand called Razolution that has a similar razor called the 4 edge razor. It can be used with 2 blades or one.
Have to give them credit for thinking outside the box and trying to be different. The concept of multiple blade DE razor is a bit of a oxy moron, but there are twin blade injector blades that work great.
No thanks....I don't use all of the razors I have now. And this one doesn't really look appealing to me.
I'll probably buy one just for it's "eye-candy" appeal. Pretty sure it will get only one pass on my face before it relegated to permanent shelf/rack duty. It does look cool.
