    Hey everyone

I know a lot of you have dogs and I wanted to ask your opinion and advice.

My dog had a minor surgery in March this year to remove some kind of growth just under the skin. The scar healed nicely and no problems since then.

Today we noticed that our dog had just a little blood on the scar. She usually scratches herself like dogs do, but we never saw any blood.

I got some pics to show how it looks. Is this normal? Should we take her to the vet? Has this happened to any of your dogs?

It seems irritated but it hasn't opened or anything. We cleaned it with a solution and now she is wearing one of my tshirts, she is not very happy about it haha

I'm not a vet, nor do I play one on TV. ;) But, it looks to me like irritation, possibly just from the healing process. I'd ring the vet just to be sure, but my bet is a little cortisone cream will take care of it. OTOH, it could be the beginning of an infection. So, definitely keep an eye on it at least. The blood could just be from doggie scratching/rubbing it.

    March?

That's probably a hot spot. Try a steroid cream first and keep her in the tshirt for a day or two.

We are definitely gonna keep an eye on it and I'm calling the vet tomorrow.

I don't dare putting cortisone cream on it. It's probably on prescription anyways. Sweden you know =)

Yes March. The scar is healed completely. That's why this worries me.

    What does "hot spot" mean?

That tshirt looks awesome on the dog. Or is it the dog that looks awesome in the tshirt?

Best wishes to your dog. She looks cute. :)

I've got a closet like that. Any clothes I put in it seem to magically shrink.

Something similar happened to a dog I had. A small incision got infected months later due to a very small piece of gauze left in the incision that worked it's way back to the surface. But since there was scar tissue it couldn't make its way out. A tiny little cut from the vet and a pair of tweasers fixed him right up. He gave him some antibiotics just to be safe. He covered the bill too since he left the gauze there.
As with any family member, call a medical pro.
Hope it's a simple fix like that.

We have had an eye on it and cleaned it with some kind of solution. Don't know the dame. it's already much better. I think it's only irritation from scratching.
