If "Ms. Page 9" likes to send you pics, you might want to look into Instagram and Snap Chat. Or at least that's what I'm told....:whacky011:

The thing with snapchat and instragram is, A) It's not private. and B) They own your pictures. Nope! Not going to work. When sending personal pics I see no reason why anyone would want to use a 3rd party instead of just going person to person.

Nothing exciting. I do Virgin Mobile which is a pre-paid burner service that's inexpensive. I'm getting a XTE Awe, just a basic Android. They're on sale 50% off right now and have good ratings. Unlimited text and date for $35/month.

Ugh that's pretty expensive these days when you have excellent options like Republicwireless and Ting that will end up at around $20/month for unlimited everything AND gets you a nice Android or iPhone :) - all sans contract.

Republicwireless starts at plans at $5/month (WiFi only which is a dumb option) but the 'real' plans start at $10 month.
I believe all their plans are hybrid WiFi/Cell which works great.

Republic's similar plan is $25 vs. the $35 of VM, and their phones are way more expensive. VM with the new phone will be $465 for the entire year, while Republic with their cheapest will be $449. So, I can stick with the same service and # I have now, or pay $105 more up front to save $16 over the course of the year to gamble on a new service and deal with switching and all that. I'm okay with not saving $16. ;)

Ting has decent phone prices but a wacky as heck billing structure where you pay through the nose for data and messages. My monthly cost would be $49 there for what I'd need.

So, VM's in the same ballpark as Republic and way cheaper than Ting, plus I can walk into just about any grocery or convenience store in the US and buy a top up card for VM, which you can't do for the other two. And VM's a true burner prepaid. Nobody knows who I am. I'm like Jason Bourne with it. Not so much with Republic and Ting.

I do like the use of the burner phone terminology :)

I know, right? It makes me feel like I'm on the lam. I can pull the battery out, destroy the SIM, toss the pieces in different trash cans and walk away into the crowd.

You'll have to ask the NSA for all your over-the-air activity back before you can "disappear". Unfortunately, nowadays nobody gets out alive.:(

I guess my advice would be to get a smartphone with a decent camera and indulge her. And unlimited everything. If she gets too annoying or you get interested in someone else, drop her like a bad habit.

Hmmm... one day I'm going to have to do a post about one of my previous jobs.

Oh, and with a burner prepaid wireless, nobody knows who you are. Which is what makes it a burner and why you prepay. ;)

With the advent of The Patriot Act, surveillance techniques, drones, etc., I think the elite few who wish to know the who, what, where and when of individuals' lives can do so very easily. There's no such thing as privacy and anonymity any more. Although I do like the idea of living "off the grid", I'm afraid we're past that point.

Unless you're always paying for all expenses related to that phone in cash AND never calling from home, it's really very easy for folks to find out who you are and where you live; the notion that they need to take time to 'trace' a phone to its location or that prepaid phones are untraceable is a convenient fiction oft-repeated in popular media because it helps add tension to the narrative.
