Has any user of the new R41 noticed any more-than-usal facial and/or neck itching the same or next day after shaving with it? I noticed this on my last shave using the new R41. The next day, I itched a lot on my cheeks and just under my neck. The shave was excellent of course... smooth as glass. But definitely had a lot of itching. And I'm not talking razor burn or irritation... actual itching of the skin.

I haven't Jody, but so far, by that time, I've already done another scrape and am porpoise smooth again. Actually, its almost 24 hrs since I shaved yesterday and I ain't feeling any sort of itch or anything on my cheeks, neck, or anywhere else.

Anyone else experiencing these issues that Jody is seeing?

I have an itch the next day every time I get BBS regardless if the razor. That itch is just the sensation caused by getting the hair cut below skin level and then the hair trying to grow back to the top.

[EDIT] and the itch is on the right side, under the jaw line where the hair growth direction is backwards.

Shoot mang....It would take 7 dust cloths to clean off my Slim...You're responsible for hooking me up with this I2, and I have settled down..It's all I ever use any more...:) And hopefully it and my blade stockpile will last the rest of my days...:)
I'm glad to see you so happy with the R41...Maybe we need a video review?

Heh! Well, I am going to try and be successful with Movember this year, so yeah, maybe a video review will be in order come December 1st. The R-41 is sure to impress any onlookers as it mows down a month of growth.

If the R41 is really that aggressive then would it have equal cutting to a straight razor?

No the shaves are very different. You are still limited by the thin flexible DE blade.

It really isn't like an SE shave either as the blade isn't as stiff.

It's just an effective DE razor.

As more of da 'Den members are using the new R41 I'd like to hear if the shorter blade life phenomenon with this razor is holding true. I've read as much as a 50% reduction in blade life comparing the R41 with other razors.

I can agree with Aaron's earlier post in another thread about shorter blade life in the R-41. A Voskhod in any other razor will give me six very close, comfortable shaves, seven if I push it. The same Voskhod in the R-41 is toast after three shaves.

Yes, for me so far it is very true. I can get 4 shaves on a Voshkod with the 4th being very needy with respect to a change. I used a Lord platinum and got 3 shaves. Both of those blades seem to give me about 6-7 shaves in my EJ 89L. But still, with Voshkods coming in at ~$.20 each, it is still way worth it for me.

So yeah Brian, I'm saying it is true. It's gotta be something with the angle being as gnarly as it is.

Maybe Muhle has been recruited by the blade manufacturers to provide a razor that reduces blade life. (Humor)

If your skin can tolerate the razor and the angle and produce a good shave, then is reduced blade life too much of a price to pay?

Definitely not a high price to pay for quality shaves. Just curious if this was a real or perceived phenomenon with this razor.

Yo Stingster...notice I made you the irresistable force...BabyGirl should get a kick out of that...:)
