Ran across this Van Der Hagen razor today. Any recent opinions?

    This is what to look for on Gillette Super Speeds for birth year stuff.

    The one on the left is 1948 and the one on the right is a 1947/48.
    What they share in common is the center bar where you load the blade, they lack a notch on them as you can see with both.
    Where they differ is safety guard, the 47 doesn't have crease across the center between the lather slots and the 48 is creased.

    For anything from 1948 - 1950 as long as it doesn't have a date code will look like the following.

    You can see the notch on the center bar for the blades and they also have the creased safety guard which was revised on all Gillette one piece razors from 1948 and up.

    The last common feature to all 3 is the style of handle. That handle style is what is commonly referred to as a 40s style super speed regardless of these manufacturing changes.
