Hey Guys Ive recently purchased some feather blades the other day and shaved with them tonight. It was a good shave however I had a few nicks once the shave was complete.

Any other recommendations on good razors? and is it true each razor works better for certain skin types?

    Appreciate all the replys men!

    Cheers!

Good razors? Most razors are good. There are only a handful of razors that would be considered bad, and that would be based on shoddy manufacture, not ability to give a shave.
Better for skin types? Nope. There are different razor designs for the heaviness of beard growth, the most famous being Gillette's Heavy, Normal, and Light series of flare tip super speeds. Each had a different tip color and are commonly referred to by the tip color. "red tips," "flare tips" (because it is unpainted), and "blue tips." The introduction of the one-size-fits-all adjustable razors put an end to the colored flare tip razors, though the standard flare tip continued to be produced for another two decades. If you have sensitive skin, (or if you have been brainwashed by Gillette and/or Schick into thinking you have sensitive skin) you might want to start with a razor that is considered to be a mild shaver. There are quite a few threads that discuss that topic, so a perusal of the archives should turn up a list or two.

Now if by razor, you actually meant blades, refer to Ryan Bayles's comment above mine. Blades are one of those things it is really hard to give advice on, because everyone has a different experience with different blades and when you factor in the fact that each blade performs differently in different razors, it adds another layer of complexity.

:signs011: Based on my personal experience having tried many of the above I've chosen the EL89 as my go-to razor.(the EJ handle sucks however IMO and I needed to replace it with another) However any of the above razors are good and unless you have a handle length preference or type TTO/3 piece preference get the one that costs the least. For blades of course you must have a sample pack inorder so find the blade most suited to you(try as many as you can). So for both razors and blades(as well as soaps/creams,preshaves,aftershaves etc. "lol") a little research and experimentation is need.
The pay off will be the CLOSEST most COMFORTABLE shaves of your life and ALOT of FUN discovering your winning combination. :)

I would go with one of the adjustables: Merkur Futur or a Gillette adjustable ~ 1966-1969 ish .

I shave with a Wilkinson classic ,very cheap, plastic with some metal in the grip to provide for weight, but a nice shave all in all. In Croatia it costs around 6-7$US with a 5 pack of blades

In my experience, no matter the razor or blade, good lather coupled with good technique equals a nice shave.;)
