Hi I am a razorholic (and brusholic, too). Seriously, I don't mean to make light of alcoholism, but this hobby of ours can be addicting. We need a Razorholics Anonymous thread/page. I have acquired the following over about a three week span (not all were from gentlemen on forums, but most were.): ATT R2, two gillette new types, Thater 4125-1 Super Badger, Simpson x3 Commodore, Jayaruh brush 163, WSP Rustic Sandalwood soap, and WSP Sandalwood AS. A good sign is that I was bidding on an old type that looked beautiful in the sellers numerous photos and I bailed out when someone else's bid was higher than I was willing to go. I think I am going to be able to resist getting one of those new types re-plated (for now). Also trying to resist a used Rockwell 6s.
It sounds to me that you have it under control if you are letting the on the Bay go once it reached your max. Sent from my phone using some app
My suggestion to you is to start using Straight Razors. All you need is one, and no need to look for the perfect DE blade, and no need to keep buying blades.
Even with straights, you are still buying blades. They are just bigger and come with scales. Sent from my phone using some app
Cheaper than sporting clays too.... @Puma - We all go through it and you will settle down in time. Now I have a few nice razors and brushes that I enjoy. Enjoy trying new things, but don't get caught up in the mythical magical razor that delivers 1 pass BBS shaves while curing world hunger. It doesn't exist. Find something that you like and spend a 30 day challenge with it. You will dial in your technique and learn a lot. Have fun.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. I'm up to around 80 straights in three years. I have about 15 DE/SEs left, 5 brushes, 22 aftershaves, and around 20 soaps that are opened.
I'm a couple years in, and still have bids in 4 auctions. It comes and goes, but things still catch my eye. I like collecting them, I only want one (of each).
Well, I'll admit... I have about 45 DEs, SEs and injectors. Add on another 17 SRs and I'm just over 60! Just don't tell my wife, or I'm toast!
Okay - here's some of my stash. - There's also a bunch more I'm not going to list here, because then I'd REALLY feel like a hoarder. Eventually the three months will be up, and I'll get rid of probably three quarters of it.
