Rotbart was an independant European (German) maker bought out Gillette in 1927 and continued to produce as Rotbart under the Gillette ownership for a time. Many of the European makers used Bakelite because metal was being used to make armaments to prepare for war in the 1930s and metal was scarce after the war due to major rebuilding efforts. This particular model is shown in Waits Compendium but no additional information is available other than the picture. Bakelite razors can be mild to almost R41 level aggressive in the case of the Neillite 400. Be careful when using not to get the water temperature over 120-130 deg F when using to clean it and don't leave it in hot water for very long. Even though Bakelite has a high thermal point the idea is to take greater care of it in use than a metal razor because Bakelike items can chip and break. I hope this helps.
SOTD Razor: Rotbart Blade: Voskhod Brush: Ever-Ready 100 Soap: Mamma Bears Siberian Fir Aftershave: Aqua Vela Musk I was expecting something like a tech. A very blah shave. But wow, I like.
Is this the Thread for only a special Rotbart Razor or can it be used for the different models of Rotbart?
Thanks Gary. Then i will post my experiences with my Razor here. Maybe it will be interesting for some people who are playing with the thought of buying this razor.
Hi Friends, i think i post my new Rotbart Mond Extra No. 15 here too. I will keep you updated on how the razor shaves. Seems to be very gentle but toroughly. As far as what i read... Greetings Thorsten
Very nice looking razor and photos! If you have time, I'd appreciate it if you could post a picture of the under side of the top cap or of the underside of the base plate with the top cap inserted. I'm interested to see how those metal slots on either side of the circular hole for the handle thread work. Many thanks!
Here the pictures as wished from @VedderLG : Hope that these pictures are what you wanted. If not let me know and i will make new ones. Greetings Thorsten
