I think right say - after middle of 1960's, not after WWII...

I remember yours, but I did say "for the most part". Yours and a few others are nice looking, but most I've seen are utilitarian. Nothing wrong with utilitarian.

I have a 50's and a 70's and both are "Равнина Джейн", but excellent razors.

So what are the top brands then and are there any real interesting ones? (Like some of the Japanese razors with dimples in the side or holes in the blade or tang etc)

Regardless of Make..As a Rule of Thumb the Pre 1970s Russian SRs are Regarded as Nicer Shavers..A Lot of them have a Smiling Blade..They Don't Come as Fancy as Some Japanese SRs..:)

Nothing wrong with utilitarian. Given that you have the world's best collection of awesome shaving "Misfits" I think I know where you are coming from. :happy088:

Nothing wrong with pretty either. They just bring a premium in price.

True - a good blade and edge shaves the same either way. :)

Shaved again with my 1941 Russian 5/8 from the ZTV factory. It is a special razor that has a feel like none other (at least that I own.) I'm wondering if it is due to the decade or the factory. Does anyone else have Russians from both the ZTV and STIZ factories? Have you noticed a difference in the feel between them when shaving? I'm guessing the feel is due a combination of both the decade and the factory but I'm wondering if there are noticeable differences just on the factory alone.

Yeah, I think Mykola posted that one just to taunt me.

I've been wondering about how the ZTV factory blades stack up against the STIZ. 1956 is my birth year and I have a lovely Moscow 1956 from STIZ. Needless to say Comrades, I succumbed and bought this one this morning. I mean, a True Son of the Motherland has to do his research and compare factory to factory from the same year, am I right Comrades or am I right? Da, of course I am. :happy097:
