Here is a copy/paste of the 3 variants:

    M1: "Schick Dial" Injector Razor

Handle insert with name. No dot on knob.
    Packaging: Black plastic clamshell case
with clear lid (65-66). White plastic
clamshell, clear lid, red liner (66-68).
M2: "Adjustable by Schick" Injector Razor
Handle insert, Dot on knob with cross.
    Packaging: Various plastic cases.
    M3: Schick Injector "Adjustable Razor"
No spine insert, black dot on knob)
    Packaging: yellow blister pack.

I don't have the M3 variant. I have M1 and 2 M2's. I have only used the M1 since I liked it so I saw no reason to try the M2's. I saw 2 M3's on eBay as a lot and I missed it. It went for $70. Now to the question at hand. Is one of these generally regarded as better? I mostly see the M2's up for sale. Probably why I ended up with 2 of them and in good condition. My M1 doesn't look the best on the insert but the rest is fine. Ramble finished.

I haven't used mine in a while -- I'll need to check to see which one I have.

BTW, on fleaBay, many people sell Ms that aren't Ms. They're not even adjustables. They look like Ls to me. I think because they have an M stamped on them somewhere.

Everything you always wanted to know about Schick Ms, but were afraid to ask:

Depends your motives actually 4 to 5 variants if you go by handle designs and razor heads. You can first break it down to those with protector levers and those without aka 64 -73 models without and 73 - 84 models with. The 64 - 73 models came with either Schick Dial or Adjustable by Schick stickers on the handle. The 73 - 84 models came with either the adjustable razor sticker on them or no sticker with the name molded into it. Those without stickers technically can be broken down into 2 versions those without a Schick logo on the razor head produced from around 80 - 82 and those with which were produced around 82 - 84.

Now with that out of the way if you are looking unique shavers then by the era. The changed the gap on then slightly when they went to the protector levers so anything 64 - 73 is what I called 60s era razors since the razor adjustment gaps never changed on those models. The 70s era which is the schick injector razors with the protector levers. Then the 80s era which they changed the adjustment gap again those are the solid handle ones made from 80 - 84. The get a little more aggressive for each era. Not enough to recommend one over the other but they do differ.

Finally the biggest consideration if using is do you want to use Shick II twin injector blades. If yes then you want to go towards the 73 - 84 model razors since they were specifically designed for those blades. The earlier ones can accept the blades but I have no idea how well they will shave with them.

I have a 64 -73 model, since I know it has no protector lever. I still need to check mine to see what the sticker says, out of curiousity. It's been a few years since I used one of my Schick Injectors, and there are several that I have that I haven't tried yet. Anyone I've used has been an easy, great shave from the very first try. I probably have used my M the most.

Update: Mine says "Schick Adjustable" on the handle.
