I have one I absolutely cannot get open. Soaking, oiling, and sonic cleaning have all not worked. It makes me skittish on buying another jammed one.
I guess it's better to pay a little more for one that works. I probably got lucky with mine it looked hammered and it was the first one I ever bought. When in doubt......
Have you tried an ultrasonic cleaner? Any I've purchased that have been stuck have opened with 1 or 2 cycles. I've had more problems with freeing a stuck spring plug after cycling the old bladesout.
The problem with a B is there is no way to get inside. The C can be taken apart to the last screw. So if you can't get into it you can't fix anything.
I have had luck with prying the slide out with a jewelers screwdriver but you DO run the risk of damaging the razor. It seems like if you can get it to break loose the first few mm, it will respond to the other treatments. (soak, oil, ultrasonic, etc...) It's a risk/reward decision that the owner has to make.
ouch. Lets hope so. I am glad I got mine when I did. I still need to find an A and C3. I will wait until the market cools down.
I was actually looking for a C-2 when I found this. The elusive B-3 with headcap in sterling silver. Wish it had come with the clamshell case but you can't have everything. It cycles blades fine. Monogramed "HA". Thinking of changing my name to Herb Alpert. The Family. Type A / Type B-1 / Type B-2 / Type B-3 / Type C-1 / Type C-3. Still need a C-2 & the other Type A variations.
