Thursday's SE Shave with Igor Proraso Pre Shave VDH Deluxe Shaving Soap Jayaruh #206 Igor by @twhite CVS SE CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Pinaud Clubman I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The VDH Deluxe Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #206 badger brush. I did two passes with the Igor razor by Tom and a CVS SE blade. It was a very comfortable shave. I had it set wide open and didn't know it. The angle was easy to get. After the first pass, I was going to change the setting, and discovered that the blade was all the way back, so I moved it all the way forward. I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... The only weird thing was that after rinsing, the razor wanted to hold on to water like the 1924 Shovelhead. I just gave it a few extra shakes and continued. Featuring Igor, the SE razor by Tom.

Honed the wedge blades on a coticule stone then finished them on a paddle strop as I don't have the original leather strop that it requires. Fantastic shave. Have a great one Gents...

Thank you, Clint! The 1914 is my favorite SE of the ones I have tried. I find it to be a bit smoother than the 1912. The Damaskeene is close, but not quite as nice as the 1914.
I did a double-take on your razor... I had not seen nor heard of it before so I did a Google search to find out more. Very cool! Thanks for sharing! Dan
I only found out about it maybe 2-3 months ago myself. Amazing razor and ingenious design. It was my first shave with it. No disappointments at all....
SEptember 28, 2017 Pre-shave: Hot Shower Brush: Omega Pro. Boar 10049 Soap: VDH Luxury Razor: Ever-Ready 1912 Blade: Gem Blue Star (1) Post-shave: Thayer's Lavender WH, Nautica Classic AS balm, Nautica eau de toilette When I started this wet-shaving adventure my first soap puck was the VDH Luxury. Today I went back to my roots, and I was reminded again how much I love this scent. Not only does it smell great, it's so easy to build a soft, cushiony lather. This was the first shave with this Ever-Ready razor loaded with a new Blue Star blade. At first it seemed unremarkable.... not bad.... but not necessarily great at the time. However, afterwards... after the post-shave I realized I achieved BBS. I've been rubbing my face since in awe. I told my wife about the wonderful shave with the newly acquired SE razor. She smiled and patiently shook her head. I'm still trying to convince her to give up on the cartridges. Enjoy your day, everyone!
