You did write Gem Blue Star. So are they different than the stainless steel ones at Walgreens?

They are carbon steel instead of stainless steel. More prone to rust so they have less longevity but some claim they start off sharper.

    This morning:

    1912 Gem Jr.
Gem stainless blade (PIF'd from MsB)
    Proraso, Williams and Glycerine uberlather
    Witch Hazel
    AV Ice Blue

Another great SE shave - that make 3 in a row now. I think this Gem blade is a bit sharper than the Pal I'd been using. Almost zero tugging, but I did have a couple small nicks. Should have corked it before use. I'll bet tomorrow's shave with it will be better. It's really easy to get BBS with ZERO irritation with an SE. I'm amazed...

Boy do you have a lot of catching up to do! :happy102

Wow, the lather catcher was a lot rougher than I anticipated after the shave this morning....throughout the day I was feeling more and more burn... Between that and the straights lately, if I didn't have to shave tomorrow, I'd probably take the day off....as it is, I'll probably just go with the 1912 and a WTG pass....I'd really like to switch to the Fatboy or Slim for tomorrow's shave, but don't want to get called a quitter.... :D :happy102

    Thats the spirit!

Honestly, if you are getting irritation perhaps a day off wouldn't be a bad idea (or sneak in a DE shave and just don't tell us)

    Day 5

Bullet Tip MM did well enough. I think the blade is starting to lose its edge so it was tossed after the shave. 3 days on a SE blade is good for me and that required drying the blade and keeping it in a different part of the apartment when not shaving.

Seeing that I have been using the RR on the weekends, I will probably finish up the weekend with the RR.

AHHHHHHH I decided to go back to the 1910 Gem Junior this morning. I love that thing. Easy close shave. Great start to the day.

Glad you like it. I can not figure out why they were not more popular in the day. I guess Gillette had better marketing.

Shaved this am with my 1912 w/ ornate travel handle. Only did 1 WTG pass, with some WTG touch up along my jawline. Face feels better today....I need to make sure it's good for my long-blade-side-mounted-folding-handled SE razor tomorrow... :D

I think that's the biggest reason.

The other thing I've noticed is that I have to pay close attention with my SE, where I can go on sleepy autopilot while shaving with my DE. So the SE takes more effort and that might detract from its popularity with the unwashed masses.
