I think you could add elmers glue to a soap and the 1912 would still perform well.

Had what I would describe as a Fuzzy shave today. My new 1912 Gem Jr. with plastic handle showed up, so I thought I would clean it up and give it a spin, rather than using my G-Bar. Lathered up some TOBS Rose S/C and all I can say is :shocked003 !

Don't tell Fuzzy, but that thing really did shave better than my newer Gems. I had shaved with an older kinda beat up ornate 1912 before, but it was nowhere near as good as this one. Even seemed better than my 1914 Ever Ready, which gives a darn good shave itself.

Might just re-use the 1912 again tomorrow just to be sure.

 

Ok I will not tell ME..... but is that the one with the slim plastic handle from WWII that I picked up last week.. I think you and I talked about it?

 

Yep, thats the one. Absolutely great shave tonight, maybe I'm just getting better with the S/E, but I swear it just glided easier, and found the correct angle better than my other ones.

 

I now have 3 of those... they shave wonderful. And the plastic case makes a great travel set. The one in the plastic box i just got from Ebay is in the worse shape of any I have gotten. Very bad tarnish. It is going to take some heavy duty cleaning. I got another one in that was in the red and black cardboard box., it was not too bad to clean.

 

This one cleaned up pretty easy. Box is in good shape too.

Got home from work and my Gem 1912 with ornate handle that I bought from Justin was waiting for me. Looks awesome! Mowed the grass, then took a shower and said why not...
1st SE shave and EVERYTHING just clicked for me.
Proraso, Gem Blades (thanks Justin), AV Blue and then TSD Iced Lime Milk. From the minute the blade hit the skin and made that noise that I had not heard with the DE shaves, I knew this was going to be a great shave. Went WTG, ATG, Blade Buff XTG and finish up XTG other way. Really took my time tonight and had awesome results. I can't put it into words but it was shaving nirvana tonight!
I have a 11 month old son and I know for a fact my face is smoother than his butt tonight!!!

Shaved with the Clog-Pruf Micromatic this morning. It is certainly a better shave on these micromatics than they get credit for.

 

Glad to hear that the Gem worked out so well for you! I see you got in on the group buy. Just wait until you try those Pella blades, they are much better than the ones I sent you. I would have sent you some, but mine are all claimed.

Broke out the OC micro this morning. Good solid shave. Took my time with the face hoe. Enjoyed the heck out of it. Used some old formula Body Shop SC, finished it with aqua velva Ice Balm.. GOOD STUFF.. Now let's see how the rest of the day goes.
