SE Shaving doesn't get enough attention

Most micromatics that I pick up might not have the case with them but I usually pay around $5 for them.

Hi, all. This is my first post here. I've been wetshaving seriously since about 2002.

I bought a GEM Pushbutton a year ago and tried it with a few different blades. I tried to like it, but it didn't work out for me. I did get a few good shaves, but it was just too aggressive and rough for me.

A lot of people seem to like SE, but DE does seem to get the bulk of the attention on the forums.

I agree with Dridecker the price does seem to be a bit on the high side, but you do get the original case so it may not be too unreasonable. You could find a better price if you kept looking for a while but it depends on how hard you want to look. I think you will be pretty happy with the shave you get from it, but you have to give it 4 or 5 tries before you master it.

I have most of the GEM razors. I've never owned a Flying Wing (I call it a bullet-tip) and EVERY version of the 1912. I have a Damaskeene 1912, great razor.

Some 1912's come in an open comb version and are considered a rarity/harder to find but I've found them sometimes on eBay and they still only sell for around $5.

GEMs have unsurpassed quality and ease of shave. I'm 50/50 in regards to whether DE or SE is better. I switch off between DE and SE regularly. One day it'll be DE and several days later SE. GEMs are the razor w/ better value for your money though, that's for certain.

Here is a super rare GEM De Luxe 1912 (I believe it's as rare as the elusive Gillette Double Ring 'cause you just NEVER see them for sale.) One day I'LL own one. ;)
