Thank you. I am pretty well blessed, even with a few back problems. I have some aches and pains, but in reality the worst part is my wife doesn't like me playing golf any more. It really could be a lot worse for me.

So this evening I have figured out the down side to my shave this morning: I am pretty much still smooth as can be on much of my face. I have a few spots creeping up that are getting a little stubble, but not much. If this doesn't change quickly, I may not need to shave in the morning.
SEptember Focus Still working with my Schick Model J and I've decided this razor is VERY mild. I getting OK shaves, they're acceptable, but they're just not very close. I'm using a shallow angle and keep the pressure light. But the back of my mind keeps telling me I need MORE pressure? But that doesn't seem right. Do you sense my confusion? I'm enjoying the education though, so I'll keep working on it!
I am urging them on like the Little Engine that Could: I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. Grow whiskers, grow!
I know what mean. I have a J2 and find it very mild as well. I can get a very close shave with it but it's more work than my I1.
September 6 Focus Shave 5 Due to it's pointy heal and point the Rasurpur was in the penalty box for August. He is back and just one nick today plus two weepers. Three passes and the irritation was light and the shave DFS-, a disappointment on both the irritation and closeness front. The Crazy Ivan in SEptember! September 4 Crazy Ivan strikes again. What's the craziest thing I could possibly do? Why, not shave of course, and that's exactly what I did. Early Saturday as usual, alarm couldn't convince me to get up quite yet so I slept in an extra half hour and skipped the shave. Not even gonna apologize. That 30 minutes felt GOOD! The plan for tomorrow is the Feather SS with a Kamisori brand blade. We'll see if Ivan decides to settle down with that plan. Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Sorry I haven't posted in a couple days, but the Tech focus continues. Today it was the usual Proraso Green preshave followed by TSD vanilla soap, bombed. A regular xtg / atg two pass shave with touchups followed by Gabel's Lime, bombed. My real focus here I think is getting the touchup time down. Maybe it's the mildness of the Tech, but I need more touchups with this razor than any other I have. Still, I am fitting a nice mostly BBS from it with no irritation, so that's good. Hopefully I can get it to very little touchups before the month is out.
Prep: Hot shower, Stirling Island Man soap Pre shave: Bloom water from soap tub Soap: Soap Commander Courage Brush: Stirling synthetic Kong Razor: Schick Injector G1 Blade: Schick (China) Post shave: Stirling Lemon Chill WH/w Aloe After shave: Floid Blue I went into today's shave with some trepidation after hearing reports of rough shaves from our fellow focusers. I did my usual 3 passes and touch-up, waiting for the bite, but everything felt fine. Great shave, at least as good as with the L1 and J1. Almost perfect BBS. Then I hit my face with the alum and definitely felt the burn. No real irritation showing, but more feedback than I've had in a while. The witch hazel and aloe calmed everything down, and the blue is always a winner. So mixed results. A comfortable shave, a little discomfort that I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't used the alum, but overall very nice results. Back to the L1 on Monday.
September 5, 2015 Single-Edge SEptember Injectors and perhaps a GEM This month marks my first shaves with injectors. I’ll look to familiarize myself with them by starting with mild ones and perhaps move to experiment with others along the aggressiveness spectrum. I’ll be doing SEs all month. In the first week of SEptember I had great shaves with the J3 - "Golden 500" and an I2 - another hydro-magic Schick with a reputation for a mild shave, similar to the J3. I will be looking to spend a lot more time with these two razors in the future. Today I moved to the next Focus razor - a Schick G1. It is reputed to be a step up on the aggression scale compared to my first two razors. Mid-afternoon shave. Hot Shower Soap: Proraso Green Brush: Omega Pro 48 Razor: Schick Eversharp Type G1 Blade: Schick Injector (China) (1) TSD Witch Hazel Aftershave Cream: Proraso After Shave: Proraso Green My initial reaction is that it probably is a bit more aggressive than those I've used this month. But my bigger takeaway is that it is taking longer for me to find the optimal cutting angle. The first pass (WTG) disappointed a bit in terms of whisker reduction. But that's probably more due to operator inexperience as I struggled to find the best angle. I must have found it at some point during the second pass (ATG) as my face is as smooth as ever! I will take a couple more shaves with this razor to get closer to figuring out the best angle of attack. But the results, even as I struggle to find it, are fantastic. With the late shave today, I'll probably skip tomorrow and be back on Monday. Hope you're having a great Labor Day weekend - brought to you by the folks who brought you the weekend! Cheers! RT
Perhaps, but the good thing is that you get an early warning - you'll smell him coming from at least a mile away!
YMMV...but a wise man told me to increase the angle on that model and the sound will be like Velcro - bringing a closer shave. Big caveat - tread lightly, YMMV
