Razor: Valet Auto Strop Model "C"- 1935-40/ Gillette 1958 TV Special(3) Feather blade) Blade: Valet New Process (3) Brush: Frendrihen Silver Tip Badger Faux Horn Handle 22/49 Soap: Captain's Choice Sandalwood A/S: Captain's Choice Sandalwood Day 10 Another great shave with the Valet Auto Strop Razor. Doesn't really make sense to add a day to the Valet New Process as you strop it after each use. Sure do like Captain's Choice products. 2 Passes with the Valet and a cleanup with the Gillette. Weather is starting to cool.
September 10, 2015 Morning shave Hot Shower Soap: Proraso Green Brush: Omega Pro 48 Razor: Schick Type E - Canada Blade: Schick Injector (China) (4) TSD Witch Hazel Aftershave Cream: Proraso After Shave: Proraso Green Fourth shave with the Canadian Schick Type E and same blade. I'm improving with each shave. I can only imagine what this razor would provide after a 30-day Rule. Eight hours later - no sign of growth! Absolutely none. Cheers! RT
Might have to use this trick. There's a couple spots either side of my Adams apple that will not go completely smooth. I've ignored them as the rest is DFS or better most days
Wow after reading through all these posts today I feel I need a nap. That'll have to wait as I've got a shave to report in. Got my derby blades in yesterday, but had already shaved so they had to wait. Seeing as the GSB had 3 shaves on it, I figured it'd be a good afternoon to try out the Derby. Glad I did! The GSB is great in my tech, but was leaving me just shy of irritated with the Fatip and irritated in the R41 but way less than the Walgreens blades. So into the Fatip the Derby went! Man that was a good shave! Same ghost town barber soap and AS. Same Semogue 1250. That brush is amazing when it breaks in by the way. Even if it does look like the scraggly neighbor dog. WTG, XTG, and ATG with a couple of touch ups and I'll call this one BBS. Good enough for gov't work! I may even break the R41 out of jail to give it a whirl with the Derby. Might be the cure for what was ailing me with that razor.
Whoo hoo. Finally caught up on this thread. I got lost somewhere around page 22 while on vacation. I think this thread is already longer on the 10th than any of the threads for the first half of this year. Let the shenanigans continue!
Great example of what many talk about around here - how one blade can be great in one razor but rip you up in another. I haven't experienced it yet (have only shaved with three DEs so far) but good testimony for having a few types of blades hanging around. Oh oh, shoulda known better...I think I hear the Chairman of the Russian Blade Cartel approaching... say has anyone told you about the glory that is a shave with a Russian blade?
Hmmm the quality of posts must be improving. Most of this crew usually puts people to sleep while they're reading the posts!
September 11 Focus Shave 8 The first two passes felt awesome, no irritation, no blood and I removed allot of stubble. The third pass was as good as the first two then some touch ups. Did the alum test and good results on the irritation front, almost none. Shave was a solid DFS, I have to figure out how the ear to adams apple ATG if I want BBS. I do feel like I am making progress as my consistency is improving. Perfect! On the brush, since it's a boar it may have an off odor for the first week or so. To help alleviate the smell, soak it in dish soap (dawn) for a half hour. Then rinse well. Then fully lather the brush with your bay rum soap and let the lather dry on it. Do this the first few nights, it will really help the brush break in and get soft faster. I learned on Omega. It is a fine choice.
Day 10 - SEptember 2015 30 Days with a Schick G Science! First soap change in 40 days or so. I face lathered it on a Plisson and was rewarded with the normal 2 pass automatic smoothness. The alum proved the soap as both slick and protective. The soap has proven capable and a pleasure to use, @TheSoapExchange is a TSD supporting vendor, and you guys should check them out. Finished with some TSD FW type AS to compliment the soft Bay Rum of the soap. Are you ready for some football? Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a Fantastic Friday!
Ok thanks I'll do that....I'm have to resist the urge to try everything out....but I'll wait till morning....oh my wife thinks that bay rum smells like a homeless guy by the beach.....me on the other hand I love the smell
