Well the year's up so I'm putting you on ignore now. There's only so long I can fake friendliness and care.
Wow I gone a week and there are more than 20 pages to catch up. The 30 day rule/focus thread seems to be growing exponentially. Tomorrow I'll leave to return to Seoul, return to October's thread and return to straight shaving shavin.
The Crazy Ivan in SEptember! September 28 Razor - Gillette '59 Ball End Tech Blade - (3) Brush - BoS Omega 10066 Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Post - Cold Water, Alum, Clubman Final day with the Thai Gillette. BoSFat for the win on the lather and another very nice three pass shave. Finished with a near BBS after a little extra touch up work. Like the Vietnamese Super thin this one seems to be losing its edge a bit on the third shave. Clearly not the best blade from Gillette but very workable and a better option than many other blades. Speaking of many other blades tomorrow I'll be switching to the Tiger 3H from Czech Blades. This is a carbon blade and is an "old school" carbon because of the design. It has the old style rounded ends with three holes punched in it. Hearkens back tot he design of the old Gillette Blues. I'll give it two days and not try a third since it is carbon and I don't know what to expect. Should be interesting. Hopefully not deadly or dull. Or deadly dull. Or any of that. I'm set up for October. More coming.
I tried the tiger 3H blade and couldn't finish a stroke with it because of how harsh it was. There was blood in the first inch.
Razor A: Ever-Ready SE 1914 Razor B: Scimitar Bluebeards Revenge Blade A: GEM (4) Blade B: Feather (7) Brush: WDC-1 Grandfather's restored rush Black Badger Wood Handle (20/65 Soap: Synergy Shaving Soap Bay Rum A/S: Captain's Choice Bay Rum Day 28 Another excellent shave this evening. Last day with the Scimitar Bluebeards Revenge razor. It is a great razor, if there is one draw back I would say it would be better with a knurled handle, however, that is really not much of a draw back. IMO Get good shaves with the 1914, just need another razor to clean up around he nose and chin area. The soap is outstanding as well as the A/S.
Which can also be a deadly killer. I'll be using the EJ DE89 so a lot milder razor involved. You now have me curious about using my 1918 Old Style though, just to compare notes.
I'm just happy to see that the toilet and sink aren't one metal unit. Apparently TSA hasn't arrested you.
I didn't have any other razor it would fit in. I have used everything else in that razor no problem. Only thing I can use volshok and feather blades in without needing transfusions.
True, it's a fine post. Let's not forget this one though, it was pretty awesome too: Actually, there have been a lot of great posts this month. Looking forward to more great shavings and shenanigans in OCtober!
Are you kidding? That den is aces! The only place you see that much stainless/chrome/shiny surfaces is @Darkbulb's shave den or the ride for all our two-wheeled aficionados on this site... ( you know who you are.) Glad to hear you at least landed safely! Enjoy your trip!
The three hole configuration does limit it to only certain razors for sure. The DE 89 is a three poster and so is my Merkur 23c. The Remei and Long Feng too. And of course the 1918. So those are my choices.
