Thank you. Feather blades are one of my favorites. My October focus will be comparing nine other blades to the Feather in this razor.
I shaved with the Type B and a personna blade. I lathered up the Arko with part of a pig I bought under the Semogue name. I put blade to face and youch!!! The type B is a little aggressive and the personna blades are draggy and harsh. I survived a 2 pass with only minor bloodloss. I'll try it again with a schick blade but right now this razor's days are marked. I'm hoping the safety bar on the type C treats me better tomorrow.
Next month I'm going to try all 5 of the blade options in the Gem @clint64 sent me last month and, play with my injectors some. I might throw in a straight razor or shavette shave in there too. It can be my version of Crazy Ivan's hijinks.
Sounds like a great focus. I'm not surprised the Feather does well in that razor as it is one of the few razors I like a Feather in. I'll be on a blade focus on October as well, of sorts anyway.
I use the Chinese Schicks in my type B and that work well. Don't give up on that razor before you find the angle.
Did my final SEptember shave with the J1. Look up the last few shaves if you want to know how it went. It's almost boring how great the last months shaves have been. Practically automatic. Only difference tonight was I used my new Connection soap from Soap Commander, and I face lathered, just to change thing up. Reflecting back on what I learned, I think if I had to pick one setup it would be the L1 with NOS Twin blades. I think it slightly edges out the G and J, but not by much, and one of these days I'm going to try a twin blade in the J just to see if there's any difference. Now I'm ready to break out the open combs for next month.
I'm in talks with someone who wants one or the other of my newest additions so I'm going to shave with all 3 blades I have 2 times each for each razor before I decide which one to give up. The open comb on the B looks scary and it has amazing blade exposure so I'm going to be more careful next shave.
And there it is, ladies and gentlemen, our 2000th post in this thread for the month. Amazing month and we have a day to go. And, another month on the horizon.
Try loading the damp (well shaken) brush thoroughly for 15-20 seconds, then add water a little bit at a time into the knot itself near the handle. It will run down into the soap. Synthetics are tailor made for face lathering, and truthfully, bowl optional. I use this method with a shave stick too, loading the brush in my soapy face, and adding water to the knot to bring up the lather. Good luck!
Day 29 - SEptember to remember! 30 Days with a Schick G Automatic! October is almost here. Awesome September by the 30 Day Crew! Have a wonderful Wednesday!
09/30/2015 Razor – Mongoose B2 with Hempel Ti Blade – Feather Super Pro (13) Brush – Romera Olivewood Synthetic Lather – Catie’s Bubbles Santal Sensuelle Post - Witch Hazel and CC Sandalwood Another automatic near BBS shave this morning. This blade is just about toast so I timed things just right for the end of the focus and SE September. Catie's Bubbles as usual was easy to whip into a nice slick lather. Finished off with a splash of Captain's Choice Sandalwood with menthol added for a nice cool start to the day.
September Recap I started this month with a plan to compare my new Wolfman OC to the Mongoose. After the first week into the focus, the draw of SE September won out and I finished the month with the Mongoose for weekday shaves and used other Vintage SE razors for my weekend shaves. The Mongoose is by far my favorite and most used razor. In fact I have used the Mongoose for 156 shaves out of my 270 shaves in 2015. My technique with this razor is solid and I am sure that plays a large part in my success with this razor. I attribute the improvement in my technique to participating in all the 30 Focus/Rule Threads in 2015. I've enjoyed following the posts of fellow participants. The amount of knowledge in these threads amazes me. I always manage to pick up a tip or trick that improves my shaves. Looking forward to participating in the October Rule/Focus thread.
