It's not just you. I started the month with a Model J and switched to the G and had much the same experience. But, even though it's more aggressive, I much prefer the Model G.
RT. I've been using a Star SE, very much like the 1912. I've found the blade makes all the difference. I tried a carbon blade and the a CVS store brand and found them both very rough. This week I've been using a GEM PTFE and my shaves have been surprisingly close and comfortable, DFS each day. Today was day 6 on the GEM blade and it was the best shave all week.
Oh, it's getting another chance. I just have to watch the angle a little more closely. But I liked it so much I was thinking of taking it on our weekend trip next month. But then it's OCtober and will probably take my New OC .
I used Musco Real Oak Moss Shave cream lathered up with my semogue boar. It lathered up amazingly but I'm not sure about the smell. I didn't hate it but I'm not sure if I like it either. I'll use it later on a few more times to be sure. After the amazing lather was whipped up I picked out a gen bullet tip and loaded a carbon steel gem blade in it for its 3rd and final Shave. After 2 passes I wasn't happy with the Shave so I grabbed my G type Schick and after loading a blade in it I did 2 more passes with touch up. I chased the baby some but ended up giving up. After I rinsed off and checked my face I found that I had nearly got it. Some slight rough spots the the corners of my jaw but everywhere else is BBS. Clubman to finish and despite the 5+ passes I made hardly a burn at all.
Day 25 - SEptember 2015 30 Days with a Schick G I am just cruising on this kit now. Back to La Toja, always enjoy using shave sticks. The two pass automatic smoothness was in full effect. Very comfy shave today with no feedback from the Alum, no irritation whatsoever. It's finally starting to look and feel like fall on the prairie a bit. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a super Saturday!
Saturday, September 26, 2015 B-3 Mongoose with Triad Ti Helix Hex Feather Pro #3 Wolf Whiskers Red & Black TGN High Mountain White Dusy Kabinett Alum, Dickinson’s ++Menthol, Cucumber Melon Whipped Shea Butter Fine – Platinum Penhaligon’s Blenheim Bouquet EDT A wonderful Saturday morning shave of two passes was the closest DFS I’ve had in a long time. The awesome Rose scent of the Dusy Kabinett was matched by its stellar performance. Thanks to the generosity of @michaelAD and the scuttlebutt on TSD for leading me to Dusy. The High Mountain White is fast becoming my favorite TGN knot. Scanctuary's cucumber-Melon Whipped Shea Butter is a super moisturizer that leaves my face feeling cool and smooth. Finished off this one a generous spritz of Fine Platinum, to be followed by the Blenheim Bouquet EDT. Hope your shave is good and your Weekend too!
Thats real good info Herm. Today was day one on a PTFE blade. I'm wondering if this is the type of blade that is better in "mid-life" than on the first shave?
In my experience yes the blade is smoother with a few uses. I have found that hand stropping smooths it out for the first shave if you are interested in going that route.

Dove Men Face Wash Tabac Jayaruh #1 Silver Tip Schick M2 Adjustable Personna SS Injector CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Lemon WH Florida Water I love the Tabac. It has never disappointed, and today was no exception. The Tabac Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #1 Silver Tip brush. Two passes with my Schick M2 Adjustable Injector razor and a Personna SS Injector blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Florida Water as an after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
One thing I like about using the same type of razor for a month is that I learn a lot. I am getting very consistent shaves with no irritation. In fact I am changing the title of my entries from SOTD to SSDD (Same Shave Different Day) Ever Ready 1924 Gem Stainless (3) Rubberset 400 TOBS Grapefruit Nancy Boy AS Balm WSP Beard Oil Florida Water Have a great weekend!
How does the Florida water smell to you. I read a description somewhere and can't remember anything other then I wanted to try it because it sounded like it would smell good.
SEptember 26 - Schick Saturday Schick / Eversharp Injector - Ivory handle w/o tabs. / Schick (1) Pecksniff's Classic shave cream Vulfix 660s Super Badger brush Retinol Men ASB Pinaud Clubman AS I decided to try my other Schick/Eversharp Ivory handle and no tabs to see how they compare. I was pretty tired this AM and thought that the razor or blade was not very efficient. I put on my glasses for a closer look and found I had not loaded a blade in the razor. I inserted an old blade in my spare injector, loaded it and then loaded a fresh Chinese Schick blade. That made a difference lol. The razors shave the same, very smooth and aggressive. I am finding I like my SE and Injector razors a lot.
