Yesterday was a nice shave. Another round with the Ontario Cutlery razor, Route 66 Twisted Tweed, and Lucky Tiger Aspen. DFS, and almost exact repeate of Saturday's shave.

Is Tweed considered a type of Vetiver scent? I seem to be liking more of the Green scents.

    +1

...plus you've assured yourself a spot in the RTF Hall of Fame for the reference to one of the slickest comedy bits of all time. Comic genius.

The best I can award you for that is Honorable Mention. :happy108:

Next up fighting to stay in the den is TI 7/8 full hollow.

This razor is on the bubble and before the shave I was leaning towards letting it go. The razor got the luck of the draw and because I had physical exam this morning I did not shave so the razor got to attack 31 hours of stubble which usually results in a better shave. While this is a big razor it feels very light in my hands, I am not as confident in my ability to control it as a heavy razor. I also re-honed her and the edge is much nicer than when she arrived.

Four passes and no irritation nor blood. CF makes tons of great lather so I went ahead and did a 'smoothing pass'. The alum test gave just a tickle and the final results BBS.

    Irritation A Closeness A Smoothness A Sharpness A-

I am really on the fence about this razor, it looks great, simple and elegant. The edge is nice now but the razor feels to light in my hand giving the impression I don't have as precise control over the blade as I like.

Another great work morning shave. I consistently get very close drama free shaves with this razor/blade combo. In an effort to finish off the Route 66 Perfect Storm I will use it the next 10 days or so. Finished off the shave with a Fine Platinum. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

I think we can safely assume that they generic Personna blades will work with a popsicle stick. :)

    Blade
    : Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 injector
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
Lather: Jeeves of Hudson Street Velvet Jacket
    Post
: Witch hazel splash, Barbasol Pacific Rush, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

One pass with touch-up on the neck and jawline and I'm ready for the day. The G1 works so well for me. It's easy to maneuver and the angle is not a problem. I can't recommend this little razor enough. The Barbasol is growing as a go-to in my after shave bin. The scent is modern and the menthol level is good. Plus I found it for $1...can't beat that!

I hope you all have a great day!

That is a nice looking razor. Herd thinning is full of tough choices.

Clint, that is a great picture. The reflection in the razor is fantastic. It almost looks like a decal.

    SEptember 7 SOTD:

    Barbasol Original SC
    Schick Type C3
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Clubman AS

I decided to repeat yesterday's shave for a couple of reasons. Since it wasn't the greatest shave, I wanted to give everything a chance to redeem itself. I am happy to report that this shave went much better. I thinned out the Barbasol a bit, and this helped a bit. I also had much better results with the Schick, as I got a two pass DFS.

The second reason I repeated was I just got home late last night and it was simpler to keep my Dopp kit packed as it was. I also got to re-use the picture. So, I guess you could say I was a bit lazy. I hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning friends. Yesterday I decided to take my Rapide (this is the one that was professionally honed) blade and see if I could give it a little more pizazz. I gave it 10 laps on the Crox and then 10 laps on the Irox and then somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 laps on the strop. It felt much much sharper. My WTG the grain pass was still tuggy and I played with the angles a bit finding out that for the most comfortable angle was with the retaining clip of the razor actually touching my face. The tugging wasn't horrible , except on my mustache and chin areas where my beard is the coarsest. I did get good reduction though so I decided to continue. The second pass XTG was much smoother. Third pass diagonal ATG left me with a nice DFS. The alum was a little warm in a few areas, especially on my chin where I probably subconsciously added additional pressure to compensate for the tugging. Now that we are in the ball park I would still like to have less tugging from the blade but also I have something to compare my hand honed blade to. Hopefully it only gets better from here. Fortunately/Unfortunately my Schick I2 didn't get any play today but did make a cameo appearance in my SOTD photo. Have a great day friends!
