I am enjoying it. It is a fairly efficient razor, but very smooth. Yesterday's shave was very close and long lasting. I didn't get quite as close today, but I was a bit more rushed. I am not sure if it that I have been using other Gem razors so much or not, but it seems to me that I can find the right angle a bit more naturally with this razor.

I had thought this would be a razor I would be eliminating from my den, but now I don't think so. Cutting any of these Gems will be tough.

Another great picture. I love how that Cobra photographs!

I had one as well and it was a good razor that I enjoyed. In thinning the den down I gave it away since I preferred the 1912.

Thank you. I really like the Cobra. In fact it might be my favorite SE razor.

Razor: G3 Gillette Aristocrat Adjustable (5)
    Blade: Rapira Super Stainless (1)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Soap: Marvy + Glycerin

I'm taking a break from the focus for a day or two before picking up the Schick Adjustable next week. Between this month's and last month's focuses, it's been a strange mix of new and underutilized razors along with side trips to strangely performing blades. So today I'm back to my favorite razor, my birth quarter golden Slim. I chose the Rapira blade based on a happy accident last month when I discovered how smoothly these blades shaved in a Super Adjustable.

The combo of the Rapira and the Slim was just as smooth as I thought it would be, great reduction with no hint that there is actually a blade. The Marvy performed surprisingly well, though I think I needed another drop of Glycerin as it started to show its true nature near the end of the second pass. Still, an effortless DFS and just what I was hoping for.

    Schick I2 Hydro-magic
    Chick (2)
    IB Amici
    Satin Tip The Purest
Tangerine AS & Nivea Sensitive ASB

Good morning friends! Another fantastic injector shave this morning compliments of my I2 Hydro-magic. This morning I experimented with using a wetter brush to load my IB Amici. Instead of squeezing most of the water out of the brush I gave it a couple of shakes just to remove the excess water. This resulted in a very fluffy load which I painted on my face and then built the lather by swirling the brush on my face with moderate pressure. The fluffy lather soon disappeared and was replaced with a nice wet creamy later. By keeping more water in the brush at the beginning I was able to build a very wet slick lather without needing to add more water as I continued to build the lather. The Schick Hydro-magic skated across my face leaving nothing but smooth skin in its wake. I finished up with some of my homemade tangerine AS followed up by Nivea Sensitive ASB for that extra silky smooth feel. Am I ever loving my injector shaves! Have a great day my friends!

Half a face with Slim at 2, half with popsicle sticks and staples. You should be able to tell if the feel is similar.

Soon as I finish enjoying Tom's @twhite Schick Adjustable type M I'm moving on to my new-to-me G-1 sent to me by John @John Ruschmeyer .
Do you know if this is one of the Schicks that will accept a Twin blade? I know I've asked the question before. The earlier ones don't, but later models may?

It will not take a twin. Only Schicks from H on take twins. With the exception of schicks with the raising lever function.

Spent some time this morning working on my Easy Aces razor by Case that I damaged on the faucet a few weeks ago. Managed to get all the chips out on a 1K Nanawia, then went through a 3k and 5k Nanawia. Then I did a very heavy slurry with a diamond stone on my Welsh slate. (The purple one of the middle grade.) I kept working on the razor through this slurry and adding water until it was clear. Then I did 50 laps on linen, and 150 on horse. The edge has a haze on it instead of a mirror shine like Glen had done with the Sharpton Series up to 30k, but we will see how it shaves in a few minutes.

The finish on the popsicle stick razor will probably exceed the Slim with that blade though.

Grand Blade Trial - Alliance for Blade Science Edition (in other words, we're playing around a bit)

Razor - Van Der Hagen (Weishi) TTO
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Arko
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Post - Alum, Old Spice

Final day of checking the Generic Personna in mild razors. The Weishi is probably one of the mildest out there, which helps explain why it's packaged so many ways as a starter razor. That and it's cheap. I would consider it one of the mildest out there, as mild or milder than a Tech. And when I loaded the blade and compared it to the Slim on 2 I already knew it would be better. And it was. Three passes to a very nice DFS. I did stay on the cap but even doing that on the Slim 2 doesn't work this well. Finished with quiet Alum and some Old Spice to smell old.

My take on the Personna Generic is - as far as I can tell it's just a Personna Platinum in a plain white wrapper. They shaved exactly the same including having the problem on the Slim 2. As to the other Israeli blades, I'll be interested to see if they show the same issue. This problem with them shaving in the Slim could be the smoking gun to prove they're essentially all the same blade! We'll go back to working through that on Monday. In the meantime I have learned something about the Slim and how it emulates mild razors. If a mild shave with the Slim doesn't work the blade should be put into a "real" mild razor to see if it doesn't improve. Whether it's the excess curve that eliminates blade exposure, the lack of any possible change in angle of attack or an issue of grip causing the blade to flex, it needs to be addressed if it shows up. You can't just assume a blade that sucks at a Slim (or Fat Boy) 2 will do so in a Super Speed or Tech.

I'll be spending the weekend joining in on some SEptember shaves then back to the DE's on Monday. I don't remember the next Israeli in line but I'll post it up later. Hope you're having a great Friday.

    Razor- GEM MMOC / Ever-Ready 1924
    Blade- GEM
    Soap- WSP Blackbeard
    Post Care- Crystal Alum
    Thayers Witch Hazel
    WSP Blackbeard with menthol

Well I had the same "problem" as Wednesday, both of these razors shaved so well I had to wait a while to find the winner. First, I can't say enough great things about these WSP products; fantastic scent, great protection, great post shave feel. It's been 11 hours since I've shaved and I can still smell the scent. Fantastic products! I used the GEM on my right side today and the Ever-Ready on the left. First pass again the GEM was smoother but the Ever-Ready shaved closer. After three passes I was again dolphin smooth so I went to the alum for the winner. Just like Wednesday both sides were completely silent. Now, 11 hours later, we have a winner. While the GEM side of my face is still pretty smooth the Ever-Ready side is smoother. By a small fraction the Ever-Ready pulls out the win. It will be going head to head against my newly acquired 1914 this weekend to determine my best single edge razor. Have a great day folks!
