A very good shave tonight with these products. The Shavemac brush made quick work whipping up the Lavender Woods into a great lather. I'm focusing on three passes and only three passes this month.

Long busy week so haven't shaved since Monday. 5 days growth didn't stand a chance against The Goose and Feather Pro. 4 passes and I am BBS. No nicks or irritation. Hope everyone is having a great Saturday. Swapping out the Feather Pro for the Super Pro tomorrow to carry me through SEptember. Last rule/focus of the year before I grow out the winter beard. I'll probably do a rule with my head shaves so you guys don't miss me too much (it's ok @NCoxSTL...you can stop crying.. I'm not going anywhere.). :D

Thanks for the info. I'll load up the "generic" on Monday for the first of three shaves. Definitely interested in the comparison.

I have spent the better part of the past week getting medication adjustments, doing blood work and all that goes into bringing blood pressure and blood sugar out of the highest altitudes to a livable level. Juuuuuuuuusssssttttt got it all dialed in and then read this post. Saw Marvy. The scent of Marvy went through my brain. Using Marvy during MAYhem replayed in my thoughts........and I'm pretty sure I need more drugs to keep my blood pressure in check. I do love your description that everything about Williams is way too optimistic for Marvy. You denigrated MWF though.......yeah, time for more meds to keep my brain from exploding.

Seriously, that's a great method you found there. I might actually be tempted to try something like that given I have most of a puck left. Or else I need to find a barber who knows the secret handshake and arcane ritual and do it the right way!

    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Post - Alum, Old Spice

First day of the Labor Day Sale and I was up and ready. Feeling better too after quite a bit of Dr. intervention. Also ready to try the Personna Platinum on a more aggressive setting. Yesterday was a letdown on my expectations for his legendary blade.

The first difference today was the lather. The BoS still produces fine lather but just doesn't seem to have the volume of the Semogue 620. Seriously, yesterday I had jets of lather shooting out of it when I pressed down. The BoS gives plenty of lather but not like the 620. I know, I know, I keep going on about that but to find another boar, especially in that price range, that outdoes the 10066. Pretty amazing.

First pass proved that gap has something to do with the effectiveness of the blade. Definitely a much smoother feel and much better reduction. I stayed on the cap as I did yesterday and it really got a good first pass down. Second and third passes also smooth and excellent and the alum finish was very quiet. The Old Spice didn't add much burn either. But it did produce a near BBS. No complaints.

If it improves even more wide open it will finish in style. Ready to find out in the morning.

Hope your day is going well and man it's good to see all the SE razors turning up in here already this month. Some great setups going on.

Sorry about denigrating MWF. To be honest, I've never used it so the only thing I have to go on is its reputation for being a difficult soap to lather.

I need to figure out what to do with my puck of Marvy, too. I'm thinking maybe grating it and going for something like VanDerMarvy.

Okay, that somewhat confirms my suspicions about the blade. Now, I'm curious to see what happens on Monday when you go with the Walgreens blade on '2'.

Vince the blades you are using are the most recommended. Too my knowledge you only have 3 choices, carbon, SS and the coated SS you are using. Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in.

VanDerMarvy. That buys full absolution for the MWF. Love it!

Even last years 1st round draft pick has to prove it belongs. Today is my PRC Damascus 7/8. It is big, heavy, looks cool with rounded point and heel. Even with several shaves on the edge it is very smooth and sharp. Four passes, no blood, no irritation and a solid BBS.

    Irritation A+ Closeness A Smoothness A+-Sharpness A

This razor proved that I was to make it my top draft pick last year. Used the Clubman today keeping with the drug store theme.

The off center wedge pin, Damascus steel, coarse jimps, & pointy tail all combine to give an exotic appeal. The jade green tint (I'm a bit colorblind?) of the scales do that PRC straight justice. Do you know what material was used? It's a very sophisticated visual treat.

Congrats! Now you're "shaving" instead of "trying to shave." We float a theory here that the quality of the shave result is inversely proportional to how much the shaver cares about the outcome. If you master the process, results just naturally improve. It's like getting pickles out of a jar. First one can be hard. It gets rapidly easier now! Just zone out and use the tool like you did today. Don't try to do anything specific. Just shave and trust the way it feels if it feels right. Very nice to see this report.

Thank you, scales are 'honey horn' I selected them because they are translucent and I don't own any razors with horn scales. The scales do have green tint to them when they are in bright light.
