SEptember 3 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush Route 66 Sweeney Todd Gem Junior Bar Stirling Unscented PSB Florida Water AS I will continue to be hit or miss for a few days or weeks, but I did get home yesterday and got a great shave in this morning. The Junior Bar is a favorite of mine, as it produces some great shaves. I would rate this a DFS+. The Sweeney Todd and Florida Water work well together. I am re-energized and ready for a day at work. I hope everyone has a great day!
Hello everyone - second shave of my 30-day-rule: - Nanny's Silly Soap "Arabian Nights" - The Tuxedo - Wacker 6/8" Stosser Keilschliff (wedge) - Majestät AS (2,79 € at the local supermarket, smells really nice) This time I used a bit more water with Nanny's soap and I THINK the lather was more slick today. Two passes, both pretty much a mix between WTG and XTG. I did not strop the blade on leather, just a bit of palm stropping prior to shaving. Nonetheless, very smooth and efficient, no irritation, no bloodspots. My face is not dolphin smooth (can't achieve that without shaving ATG), but still a DFS. btw - what looks like a nick in the blade (near the heel) is actually just a strange reflection - the edge is flawless Have a great sunday everyone - I'm off to work now.
3 SEptember 2017 Blade Focus Shave Pre: Hot water, soap from the container and a hot towel Razor: GEM MicroMatic Open Comb, circa 1930-40 Blade: PAL Super Single Edge Brush: JR#161 NY Mets Special Edition by @Jayaruh Soap: Regiment Shaving's "High Speed" Post: Hot/Cold water rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer After Shave: The Clubman For SEptember I'll be using my GEM MMOC. My first SE experience was with the Featherweight. I was underwhelmed. This razor on the other hand looks and feels like it means business. Loaded up a PAL, and got down to it. Right from the start the shave felt totally different than my shaves with the Featherweight. I very carefully navigated a three pass shave that left me BBS. The "High Speed" provided great slickness and a fine cushion. Not to mention a lemon-lime scent that was outta sight. Dried off the blade and razor. Splashed on some Clubman and Sunday was off to a outstanding start. No fleamarket today. Raining here in Central NJ. Have great shave, have a great day!
Great to hear you made it home. Watching that helicopter video you posted, it was hard to tell how long it would be.
I'm glad you made it home Jim. I hope you get to spend some time with your family. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
I almost let the experience color my buy/no buy of the MMOC. But it felt so good in my hand I pulled the trigger. And I'm glad I did.
SEptember 3, 2017 Cobra Classic Schick Proline BSB-2 with Vie Long 2 Band Fan Reef Point Tranquility Fine Lavender Everyone has those times where everything just clicks. This morning's shave was one of those times for me. The BSB2 is a wonderful brush and the 2 band knot is dense with great scrub and no scratchiness. Nit picking I do wish the handle were a little taller but the knot makes up for that shortcoming. Reef Point Soap is a take on Czech & Speake Oxford and Cambridge scent of peppermint and lavender. The peppermint provides a wonderful cooling effect and is the dominant scent with the medicinal lavender scent lingering in the background. As expected Reef Point Tranquility was easy to load and lather with excellent performance. With a fresh Schick Proline blad loaded in the Cobra Classic and plenty of time, I decided to go with a traditional 3 pass shave. The Cobra or "Snake" as I like to call the razor shaves very close and smooth provided I have a light touch. Paying attention and skin stretching limited the amount of touch ups required. In fact I was able to skip the 1/4 pass on my lower right neck. A splash of Fine Lavender also a take on C&S Oxford and Cambridge proved to be a great end to the one of my best shaves in sometime. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
Thank you Jared. @ram57 sent me three of the Proline blades to try. I used the first for a week a couple of months back will use the last two in the Cobra and General. Other than the first shave feeling a tad smoother that the Feather Pro, I really can't tell much difference between the two. The last I looked the Schick Proline blades were harder to get here in the states. Schick does make a Proline blade in sized for use in an injector razor. They might be a great blade for you since you enjoy the Feather Pro blades in your Supply Co razor.
I took part in the Kickstarter, so mine would be first run. They tweaked it a bit more for the second run and also offered it in polished steel and a black hard finish as well as the original brushed stainless. The original is a great razor and I believe the second run is as well, besides having some additional cool finishes.
September 3, 2017 Razor: "Schick Safety Razor" J-type Blade: Chick (2) Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Soap: Williams + KMF fragrance-free Post: Alum, Liserine, WH Another shave with the J(55) and Chick blade. I managed to get one last squirt out of the KMF bottle so I decided to do something different and add it to some Williams. Overall, a pleasant shave and a near-enough BBS. I think, at this point, I'm having a bit of a crisis of conscience about my focus for this month. I had planned to focus on my Gem razors but I'm really reconsidering it. I love my DE razors and I've come to really like my Injectors over the past few weeks. OTOH, I'm not really sure that the Gem razors agree with me. I believe in TTT and, so, part of me sees the Gems as another type of tool to master, but another part of me is really wondering "Why bother?". I have to think about what I really want to do this month.
