Great picture, Jason. Of all the descriptions I could have come up with for Gentleman, your wife's would have been far down the list.

I get that one, too. On Sunday, I used Stirling Glastonbury, and she told me I smelled like her grandfather. I never would have thought that.

    SharptoothC I bite..........

This was my thought as well.

Appreciate the tips, gentlemen! I have just been shaking the brush out hard; next time I use the brush, especially with this soap, I'll squeeze the knot and see what happens.

One heartening thing: after the fiasco with the Supply Provision soap (their old formula that they have replaced with a cream), I tried a lather with my standby Italian soft almond frankensoap. The brush whipped up a terrific thick lather for me. So this may be partly a problem of dialling in the soap.

No shave today for me, but I did splash on some Clubman just for fun!

Same here, but I splashed on The Holy Black Gunpowder Spice Whisker Whiskey. Good stuff.

This was the only time she's been anywhere near that harsh with a scent-related comment. In truth, she has let me know quite nicely that Gentleman is not her thing. I often save it (have soap and balm) for travelling or if she is not here herself. I absolutely love the scent.
She actually doesn't usually make any comments at all. She loves Stirling Barbershop and anything Old Spicy, especially Barrister's Reserve Spice. Most everything else doesn't even get a comment one way or the other.
A few comments about why I don't just stick to a few scents, but I'm very lucky. She never makes comments about being dragged into antique stores for old razors, or about the volume of shave gear I've accumulated in the last 10 months, or about being on this forum all the time :innocent.

This is the reason I'm scarcely seen in the evenings and weekends. My wife's only complaint was the amount of time I was spending on my phone. And since my son was born I've come to the conclusion that I have more important things to focus on at home.

Thanks to all the 30DC who have checked in and extended prayers. My family (most importantly) and house (secondary bonus) is safe and sound. About 75% of our county (and state for that matter) is out of power, but our ice cream plant, as a large industrial account, is back up with power and backup internet (albeit no phones). I also have a natural gas generator at my house that is keeping it running as near normal as possible. We sustained some pretty significant roof damage to a warehouse at work, but nothing insurmountable as long as we can get the roofing materials to reroof it. Other than that, I'll probably be pretty busy and posting less frequently for a bit, as I have my hands full here. However, since these boards are a nice distraction of "normalcy", maybe not.

Thanks for your prayers, encouragement, and friendship, guys. What a great group to be associated with!

Wise choice. The fact you have time at all is amazing. We are at the opposite end of the spectrum. Since the girls have gotten older, we don't know what to do with all the time. It is hard to comprehend no more soccer and volleyball games or running them around to countless other meetings etc. Enjoy the ride Andrew, it goes by much faster than you can imagine.

When we're young, the old farts tell us this and we pay it little attention. Now that I am an old fart, I really appreciate just how true this is. Time goes by faster and faster each day it seems. Alarming really, when we consider the terminus. I had a dog with the soul of a poet, who was particularly chill. A buddy of mine once commented "that dog takes time to smell the roses". Keep in mind he said this about a dog :D I tell myself this each day now. Stop and smell the roses.

NOTE TO THE YOUNG FARTS: Savor today! Tomorrows are coming quicker...

Thank you guys for these messages. This is something I struggle with at times. My little boy will be 3 in December and time certainly flies. My job is terribly busy, particularly this time of year, and I'm bad about shutting all of that out to focus on what's really important. I've gotten better but still have a ways to go. Thanks for the reminders!
