Agreed! I was lucky enough to find one in a dingy basement area of our local flea market...the only razor I could find in there. It's one of my favorites as well...I may even like it more than *Gulp!* my Gillette adjustables.

And, yep....I know.... I'm really late going through these posts!

Thanks for the sympathetic comments, everyone. I have been owned and operated by cats my entire life so I always know when a new one moves in that some day I will be losing it. It's still a wrench when it happens though. On the other hand, I have no hurricanes, fires or floods happening around me and my personal health is good, so my overall measure on the rotten events yardstick is pretty decent.

Razor: English Gillette Flat-Bottom New/DeFitch Handle
    Blade: Astra SP (2)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Second shave with this newly-acquired post-War English New. Out of curiosity, I decided to try it with the longer and heavier DeFitch handle. (I think I've been using Injectors too much recently as the Tech handle it came with seemed a bit small.) Another effortless BBS with no issues.

It seems that the Shave Gods must have a sense of irony, even in their benevolence. Here we are in the middle of an SE month and the only DE I've touched so far has turned out to be a complete gem.

Oh, I'm not too much into it, but I still have the one Wristwatch sent me. I'm just fascinated by leather. At the conclusion of my "Mad Rush To NB18" I should have a lot of leather to work with for the year, relative to shaving(except for the late spring and summer, that is).

...and the labelling in two languages. Is the price the same, I wonder. It is $5 Cdn here for 200ml. That's about $3.75 USD.

Interesting. There is a big discrepancy, as it is basically twice as expensive there. Your bottle is 1/2 the size for near the same price. Aqua Velva products are as cheap as it gets here, only Skin Bracer is less. Old Spice and Brut are quite a bit pricier (that is relative with Drug Store products, of course). 100ml of P&G Old Spice is $9, Brut about the same. Paid a little more than half that for twice the amount of AV Ice Blue.
Pinaud products, which I understand are Drug Store products in parts of the US, are to my knowledge not available in any chain around here, including Walmart.

As most of you know, I'm doing a soap review thread on TSD which incorporates a pass around from another forum. In between the pass around boxes, I'm reviewing soaps that I own which are also contained in the boxes. Today's blinding glimpse of the obvious is that when you review a bunch of soaps you think about the soap you are using more than you normally would. The funny thing about doing this with numerous soaps in succession is that you learn things you don't expect. For example, today I shaved with one of the soaps in my den that I fully expected to be a "given" among my "keepers". I have four tubs in my den, and it is a well respected soap that hit me as fantastic when I first used it, When shaving with it today, I'm tempted to put it in the honorable mention category. I'm going to hold off reviewing the soap until after I shave with some more soaps in the pass around, and then revisit it as I may have just had an off day. If you are remotely interested (or really bored) you can catch up on the Soap Review Thread here.

That Friday shot is always a pick-me-up, Andrew. It's been a long week, and I needed one! Thanks, brother.

Great photo Perry. Love the big boar brush.

Fantastic photo Jason. Looks like the E3 has treated you well this week.

Stunning Mark. Seems like we had the same idea for today. ;)

First class travel lineup. Have a safe trip home Brian.

That is interesting, P&G products are roughly the same price/quantity here.

I will throw you one more curve as well. Go back and revisit the soaps in a year and I would guess your opinions will have changed. I know my opinions have changed over the years.
