Thank you, Adam. I'm already feeling better. I was very fortunate, to say the least, and I'm very thankful. How is the home construction progressing? I can't wait to see pictures of the new shave den in use.

@NCoxSTL, as I have said over and over, please stop sending me these cookies. They're just too tempting for a hillbilly on a health kick. Besides, they're so big that I hardly have room left in the bowl for ice cream.

...woops...I guess this is not a PM. :signs081: Everyone, please disregard.

You know as one of the inner circle of the secret keepers of the cookies you get the best of the best! But, if it's too much temptation, I'll start sending them to some of the other inner circle. Just don't let @BaylorGator know. He's fallen for the bait and keeps chasing the fake cookies around. Just as planned. You said this is a PM........right? Wait.......Ummmmm......

I do believe the menthol was to be added to Florida Water. Not much to be done with moldy tree bark juice.

Blade Treet Super Single Edge.jpg (7)
    Soap - Stirling Ozark Mountain
Brush - Stirling Two Banded Synthetic
    Finish - Alum

Getting this taken care of well before the time change tonight. It's Thursday, my day off, and the day I shave my head as well as my usual. Head shave was the Merkur 23c, VDH Deluxe soap and boar brush and an Astra SP blade. It was a perfect shave, no issues, and a nice start to the process.

Regular shave tonight featured the 7th day for the Treet carbon blade. Stirling Ozark Mountain for the lather win. The blade is finally showing a sign or two of its age as it wasn't quite as effective tonight. Still very smooth and noisy but just didn't quite give me the baby tonight. Still, a high DFS is perfectly fine. No worries at all. The blade went into the bin after the shave and I'll figure out tomorrow what setup to move to. I've really had a great run with the 1914 and 1912 with the Treet blades. I am thinking of moving to a Schick but the Gems have my attention.

I ordered some supplies from Stirling today. Got my full tub of Sheep and Iced Pineapple coming along with a few more samples. Should be good stuff! Tonight's picture is brought to you by my new laptop and photo-editing app. I feel like I've stepped a bit deeper into the 21st century. One strange quirk about the Chromebook - there is no "delete" key on the keyboard. I puzzled at that a bit, knowing that "backspace" can do the same thing but it seems wrong not to have the "delete" key. What if I have to "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" to reboot.......oh.......yeah.......that's a Windows thing. It's the small differences like that one that will drive me slightly insane for a few days.

Friday is next!! Weekend is close!!!

SOTD 09202018.gif I'm feeling Neal's pain, but not so happy just yet. The old Kyocera phone gave up the ghost. Went to my service supplier and used my long deserved up-grade points for an octoprocessor unit made by LG. Fifty years of Moore's Law suggest computers and related electronics double in stats every 18 - 24 months while maintaining a consistent price. The price was good, but I'm not impressed with the camera. Going to have to hire a 12-15 year old to teach me how to get sharper photos from this phone. On the shaving front, all's well! Knowing Jeeves soaps deliver I tried this ginormous badger knot again. Mixed results as it did generate lather but needed a squeeze to get it out of the bristles. The razor that John @John Ruschmeyer sent in a trade performed very well. I was feeling quite well shaved at the Elementary school during this evenings Open House. That splash of Blood on Steel AS has decent staying power so I suspect I smelled good, too.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Glad to hear, Charlie. As you can guess, I’m a little behind on the thread. About 1500 posts behind. The addition and renovation are moving glacially slow. We have a roof, walls, and windows. I painted the interior last week, and we just got cabinets, flooring, trim, and doors ordered. Once they figure out where the leak in the new roof is coming from, they can finish up the family room and blow out the walls out from the kitchen to start that piece. I’ll put some pictures up this weekend.

I think a computer problem is a little less traumatic than a phone problem. While computers are a big part of our everyday life, phones ARE everyday life now. Good luck on the camera issue. I'm hoping it's a simple setting issue and not a bigger problem. Do you know the resolution of the camera? Most phones today have better camera specs than a lot of digital cameras.

It's an 8 megapixel shooting in 4:3 mode - 3264 X 2448, or 6 MP widescreen 16:9 - 3264 X 1840. The previous unit had many operator controlled features. This ones biggest option seems to be easy uploading to 17 (I kid you not) different online services. No macro-infinity focus, contrast or F/stop adjustments. I checked to see if the lens was still covered by that clear film of new screens. Since I carry it in my pocket I'll give it a spit washing before attempting my next SOTD shot. Since my daughter moved in and started working more hours I've been reminded of the cleaning power of saliva. Especially on a three year olds face just before getting out of the car in a public place. He may soon request I use his instead of mine.

Thank you Jason. I will likely order it there with some more Gem blades. I do have 1 or 2 more soaps to finish up before I get another.

Fat Friday Detour of a Stirling SEptember

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: GEM Pushbutton
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave

Fat Friday and it was smooth sailing as usual. Always great to use The Fat and the Pushbutton made easy work of it. Smooth and comfortable all around.

This has been a fast week for me. Football game tonight and contest tomorrow afternoon and night, so it remains busy. But at least it slows way down in about three weeks once our contest season is over.

    Have a great day!

    Soap and Balm

My wife gave me some L'Occitane Cade soap and balm for Christmas. My plan was to finish the C&S Cambridge and Oxford soap and use that wooden bowl for the Cade soap. After realizing the C&S would take sometime to finish, I ordered a similar bowl from eBay. It arrived yesterday and is a perfect match to my other bowl. Being very impatient, I grated the Cade soap and filled the bowl so I could take a photo and use it today. The Cade scent is very subtle but pleasant mix of juniper and rosemary over a woody base. The soap was easy to lather with good slickness. Two passes and touch ups caught the baby with ease. The matching balm has a similar but stronger scent profile. Overall, I am very pleased with the gift and look forward to using it more often. I hope everyone has a great Friday.
