Yesterday was a 'no shave' day as I unexpectedly spent a day in the ER. I had been experiencing sharp pain in my side and shortness of breath for a couple of days. I mistakenly attributed the pain to a muscle strain. The day began at the Urgent Care center, and the doc there wisely sent me to the ER for a more complete workup. I have blood clots in both lungs and am now on a blood thinner for the next six months. I'm already feeling a little better, but getting back to 100% will be a slow process. I see my family doctor next week for some follow up.

I had great care yesterday. I threw on a t-shirt and gym shorts and left the house in quite a hurry. For a guy that shaves nearly every day and does care about his appearance, I displayed some ratty looking clothes, rough looking stubble, and a bed head to about 20 medical professionals yesterday. I've known one of the ER docs since he was in college, and he wanted to get a selfie with both of us in the photo. I was laying in the hospital bed and looking pretty road worn by that time. He's a sweet guy, but I hope I never see that photo.

I gained 5 lbs overnight due to all the IV fluid and contrast dye that was pumped into me yesterday. I celebrate that sort of weight gain. I'm taking it easy for the next few days (doctor's orders ) and getting in a few short walks during the day with my beautiful Bride.

God blesses me every day, and He blessed me in a very special way yesterday.

This morning, I shaved with my Trac II (wanted to finish up the cartridge from my recent trip), my Kent BK4, LPL soap, USB, and Trumper Skin Food. It was a good shave, and it felt normal to get cleaned up. I set my Envy White 2 knot in my B-400 by Tom handle. Pix are forthcoming once the silicone cures.

Hey guys. I've been away for a couple of days. So I have 3 or 4 shaves to write up. Including today's extra close one with Stirling's Ben Frankln.... interesting scent.... came away with my closest shave yet and no nicks, burns or any other blemishes or abrasions. More later.......

Quick question: How do you guys shave the crease between your upper lips and nostrils? I've tried every razor angle I can think of yet I'm still missing the whiskers in there.

I may never know for sure what caused the blood clots. We've traveled quite a lot over the past few months. My theory is the blood clots developed in my leg (or legs) during one or more of these trips and moved into my lungs. I have some questions for my family doctor next week. I also plan to look into support stockings that I can wear on long trips (here come the memes!) along with making a commitment to take more frequent breaks. I'm the guy that keeps driving until somebody in the car starts yelling at me to stop. I need to stop every hour and move. The same goes for home. I need to be up on my feet more frequently. Losing weight will certainly help too, but I think a lot of it boils down to lifestyle choices.

The windshield wiper: In trying to get the stubble on my neck I’ve been performing the shaving equivalent of circus tricks with a blade for sometime now. The conductor: Now onto the second move which I hope to never repeat again. After finishing my shave somehow the tip of one of my fingers on my left hand collided with the blade held in my right hand. I have no idea how this happened other then after my shave I must have apparently flailed my arms around like Mickey Mouse conducting the broomsticks in the sorcerers apprentice. My wife calls this type of thing a “Jack Ritter move”, but she is the one typically guilty of them. Hers typically don’t involve steel colliding with bone, lots of gushing blood, or superglue finger repairs though. When she asked me how this could possibly happen, my only explanation was “This is what guys do”.
Pro-tip: there is a reason the superglue at the dollar store is only a buck. Next time I’ll have the good stuff on hand.

Before we get to my opinion, vis-a-vis B&M Classic/Spice being dupes of whichever vintage AS,
permit me to tell you all how wonderful Yardley shave soap is.
I was fortunate to find this NOS soap and while the scent has faded, still there, but faded,
the quality of the soap has in no way suffered.
Literal "explosion" of soap. Bloomed, of course.
The combination of the Gillette New LC and the 4x Perma-Sharp blade was satisfactory,
but not without issue today. Some weepers under my chin...
I could have pressed too hard, but don't think so. I kept my shallow angle throughout.
Nothing that a little witch hazel couldn't resolve.
Oh well. New blade tomorrow.
Now to the B&M...
Yesterday, I made the incorrect statement that I thought B&M Classic was a dupe of the original Old Spice.
I was kindly corrected by Perry and Jason, that the Classic is a dupe of Gillette's Sun Up AS.
Well, here is my opinion, ready?
B&M Classic is MUCH CLOSER to the Shulton Old Spice than the B&M Spice itself!

I guess you opened the floodgates-I might as well join in: I'll have a colonoscopy early Thursday morning. Already began the "low-residue" diet. As it is so early Thursday, I am afraid the only "personal hygiene" thing I can do before my "ride" comes is brush my teeth. I suppose stick deodorant too, but I doubt I'll have time for a shower. Course I'll shave when I'm back home.
