    James,
I face- AND bowl-lather with the Omega 63mm knot. Yes, it's tall, but it'll soften up and evolve into one of your favorite knots. Use it. A lot.

    Thanks Jim!
Thanks Perry! I'm collating data, checking with my sources. Next time I use it will be with a known brush. If I can get a lather out of Modern Williams on my first try I'll figure this one out!

Thanks Clint! That shiny brass one of yours (The Weapon!) catches my eye every time you or someone else brings one out. This one's handle is aluminum, but quite substantial. The knot is going to be fun to tame.

Thanks Jim. It's soap. I keep telling my three year old G-son, " You can do it! Be smarter than your (shoes, socks, pants, etc)!" I'll sneak up on it next time.

Thanks for the hint Troy. I'll give the JR#130 a try since it has one of those knots. Got a couple boar bristled that will get their shot as well.

Too much competitive bidding will do that. I've got my lime fix with two Pinauds so when fortune and chance align the OS will be mine.

And that post right there is why I enjoy The 30 DC so much more than the SOTD thread. Thanks John! I'm liking the Hendrix sample, too.

Blooming? What's this "blooming" you speak of? In my experience thirsty soaps give better lather. Not knocking creams, croaps, or Barbasol but I like to spend a few moments working a lather. It's part of the relaxation and meditation of a good shave. Haven't counted my soaps lately. None have gone into Adam's @Drygulch Finish One Up game. So blooming just brings them up to the level of hydration of an oft used product. Another Data Point! Thanks Steve!

Jason, that was me! I shave at my kitchen sink so seeing all you hoity toity high class bathroom shavers is a thrill. ;)

I've got an Omega @20248 - same general idea but the boar bristle is dyed to look like badger. Yes it's a handful of fat knot. I prefer bowl lathering, and specifically in a 5 inch (12-13cm) suribachi bowl. It's a low sided, fairly shallow, textured surfaced Japanese kitchen appliance made for grinding sesame seeds. I hardly ever bang a delicate wood or heavy metal handle against the ceramic. It gives me a good visual on my soap/water/air ratio and a great parking place during passes.

Thank you all. It was nice at the hot springs to get out of the cool weather. I guess one nice by-product of the rain is that the province-wide fire ban was lifted today...good news if you want a campfire in the rain.

This is nothing. You Americans are so naïve. We in Italy are so much smarter, shave savvy, and fashionably astute than you that I am embarrassed to waste my time explaining this to you. In fact the only reason that aftershaves with cologne smells were invented was to cover up our stinky Italian B.O. on the subway. Those of you who do not understand the stench of Italian B.O. could not possibly understand this. You know nothing of this, and are so stupid it saddens me that I must waste my time educating you about shaving. Having said that my Weishi will cut you to shreds as long as it does not have a derby blade in it :happy097:. Even so, my American friends, I have wasted too much of my energy trying to help you move into the enlightenment that we Italians live in every day. I also tire of having to explain how sharing our opinion on my beloved Italian shave forums is better than this drivel that you call TSD. So, I will just tell you after my third shave I understand all of what shaving is, and leave you to your own stupid devices and silly “rules” and “focuses” which you use as a substitute for the real wisdom that only comes from Italian shaving forums.

Now that, @Norcalnewb, is an impressive shave-fu imitation. Accept nothing less.

    P. S. For those of you who have never met the infamous Shavette-fu, now you have experienced a reasonable facsimile thereof, and will understand the inside jokes. This obnoxious and opinionated Italian put forth posts like this day after day for about 30 days and then disappeared. I think many of us silently cheered on that day.

Your commentary is definitely in line with some of posts that used to show up. I think he still holds two TSD records: 1. Quickest to receive a CT. Which was only topped by record 2. Quickest to disappear after receiving a CT.

Custom Title. You see where others have wording where yours says ‘well known member’. Bestowed upon you by nomination from someone else and confirmed by the Queen of Blades. Keep your head down and don’t say anything silly that will draw attention, and you will avoid one. Just like Randy and I.

Custom title. You’ll see it below members names in place of titles like “well known member”. It is bestowed upon members by the illustrious @Queen of Blades. It is both a badge of honor, and oftentimes a badge of shame. Usually it’s the result of posting something really funny, or spectacularly stupid. Mostly meant to embarrass you, but strangely also awarded out of respect. Check out the custom title thread, and it will make much more sense to you.
