Lot of great photos and shave reports already today, gentlemen!

Andrew @Linuxguile, thanks for the wonderful photo of Declan. Trying to grab your camera, was he?

Jason @jtspartan, excellent improvement on the Stirling brush! With the Schicks, I am not surprised you find little difference between the two models of Es; I find very little between the E2 and the various Gs I have tried. I have been tempted by the DR Harris creams but plan to go the sampler kit route with them soon rather than trying full tubs.

Thank you, John! I think he was trying to grab some attention!

Thanks, John. I would recommend this Stirling knot (24mm Finest Fan) to anyone.
Yes, the E2 is quite similar to the E3 I got from you, with less significance to me as it didn't come from a 30DCer. I think this cased (I don't care about the case, but it came with it) E2 will be up for grabs in the next raffle.

Thanks, Joseph. I got this Finest knot in a butterscotch handle in a trade from Randy @BaylorGator. When I made this brush, which was one of my first, I had originally plunked a non-descript boar in it and used it for about a year until I yanked it due to it just not having enough loft (especially compared to my Omega '49 knot which sat right beside it in a walnut handle) for my liking. Dropping in this knot has turned this into one of my favourite brushes.

Some of my finest razors came from Andrew as well! @Linuxguile supplied me with my Monobilt and Gem Jr in a trade, a NEW SC as a surprise gift and a MMOC as a PIF. Incredibly generous!

I almost did not post in this thread today, because it does not fit any of the criteria, however,
I simply had to relay this occurrence.
Cutting to the chase. This is something that has NEVER happened to me before.
    :signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002::signs002:
    What happened?
First pass, new Personna 74, left cheek.
Right in the middle, no curves, no angles, no REASON!

I started bleeding like a stuck pig! :shocked003:
So much that I had to use my styptic pencil (had to search for it, since I haven't seen it in about two years)
I kid you not. Not a nick, not a cut, no "gotcha" feeling, NADA.
BLOOD, lots of it. (Made worse because I take an 81mg aspirin daily)
There must be a capillary right there at the skin level that I opened up!
Finally got the bleeding to subside.
Could I have gotten a bad Personna 74?? Is that possible??

Don't think so, because the rest of the shave was uneventful. I avoided that one spot.
    That's my story.
    Primo out.

Beautiful photo, Joseph! That definitely is odd that you would get a random gusher. Hopefully it will heal up quickly!

I hear you on loving SEs this month, Neal. I also hear you that I'm super excited for OCs next month as well. I love both these focuses. Decadent December and Mayhem are also favourites, for very different reasons!
    Super combo!
I think your idea of posting pics in the SOTD thread the night before is really a good plan, Clint. Makes a lot of sense.
A great pic of great gear, but no great minds today, Perry. Fair warning- I'm pulling out the Gentleman for the next Tobacco Tuesday...:)
Phenomenal pic of some stunning hardware, Jim!
Phew. Good to hear. With Jared I assumed it was work related.
I hear ya, Bruce. I have spent the better part of 6 years doing various renovations on a 1908 house. I'll be doing a bathroom at some point this winter as well.
Fantastic pic of Declan, Andrew! I use that Glacial balm quite often, even when it isn't shave related.
Hmm...perhaps you cut yourself on the 'set down'? A new sharp blade may cause that.
On a more positive note, you have the best conditioned set of vintages, Joseph. They are all in remarkable shape.

Thank you, Jason. I like that balm so much I considered getting a backup in case I ran out of it when it was off season.

There's no criteria for this thread! I've had many months of an unfocused focus. I, for one, really enjoy your commentary, so please post in here all the time. Sorry about the blood. Yikes!

Thanks Andrew. They actually turned out nice.

I am going to drop into Portland Shave Co this afternoon and try not to spend all of my money

The answer is perfectly obvious, Joseph, and is contained right in your shave report -- you had to search for your styptic pencil because you haven't seen it in a couple years. Which means that you have neglected to make your regular sacrifices to the Little Shave Gods for that length of time. So today, right out of the blue, they extracted two years' worth of blood from you in one swoop... I recommend you put a lit candle and a bucket of fried chicken (sacrificing live chickens in the house gets so messy) down before a large vintage Gillette advertising sign or similar shave shrine immediately...

How is the Chatillon Lux Pure Lavender soap and splash? I've noticed them in the past in the online shave shops I very very occasionally look at but have never pulled the trigger.

I'll get right on that John. :eatdrink020: (This is me eating the remains of the sacrificial bird)
CL Lavender. As you know it contains Bison Tallow :eatdrink020: yummy. So even if you don't care for the soap, you can fry your chicken in it. :happy097:
It's good soap. (Gooey, needs a TON of H2O) I won't repurchase, because there is an off-putting, albeit slight odor. I prefer Mike's and AOS Tallow lavender.

Good to see that you follow proper recycling practices. :)

Interesting comment about CL Lavender versus Mike's and AOS Tallow. Someone else on here (was it Randy @BaylorGator in his soap review thread perhaps?) said he didn't like Mike's because he noticed an off-putting odor in it. You don't find that's the case yourself?
