Thank you Joseph. I bought the handle and then sourced the knot from Maggard Razors. It is there two band finest. The knot is really fantastic but it's huge at 30mm.

Lovely shave, Evan! I have the same razor in brass! I've always really liked the Art Deco handle on the Ever Ready Shovel Heads. Good solid shavers, although not my favorite Gem razor.

They do things differently in Georgia. In NY, you can get a learner's permit at 16 and you get a a junior license when you pass a road test. At 18, you can get a regular license. I believe if you take driver's ed, then you can get a regular license at 17. Licenses are renewable every 8 yrs without taking a road test. My question to you is why do you have to take a road test to keep your license when it is relatively new? I am assuming that your renewal would be at least every 4 years and that taking a road test once you have your license is not necessary, unless it was mandated by a court.

    Thanks Joe!

I was playing with both....this is my first traditional grind that has the usual western style tang and scales, so muscle memory had me flipping it, but then I switched the grip (gets out of the comfort zone, but manageable). My other Japanese blades are western grind with western tang/scales, so using them is like any straight. I have 2 other traditional grind kamisoris, but they have a long tang, both wrapped to be a round grip, not a flat tang. THAT.....requires full attention, as it is very easy to mis-rotate the blade angle during skin contact!

Great shave report, Blair, as usual. I'm intrigued about the shave with the asymmetrical grind. Ben has a couple of traditional Japanese Kamisori razors, but this is the first western style with such a grind. Ben shaves his asymmetrical grind Kamisori razors with one hand. Is that how you shaved? Just curious. Have a great day!

Cool shave, PierPaolo. After seeing your brush handle I finally understand your magic trick. Cool shave with your EU-centric kit. Have a good day!

Gillette: Blackland Blackbird/Bluebird, Blue coating by Delta Echo Razor
    Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Brush: Oscar 11 Blue and Clear handle w/ Omega Professional 10049 Boar
    Soap: Reef Point Admiralty
    Aftershave: Floid Blue
    Bowl: Junichi Tanaka Astisaral Pedestal

The Delta Echo Razor made my Bluebird more aggressive. I find using a blade that is not as sharp helps to lower the aggression. Ia Delta Echo Razor still in business? I can't seem to locate them.
The Astra Superior Platinum is a blade I have not used very often. It will be interesting to see how it holds up.
The Oscar 11 Blue and Clear handle w/ Omega Professional 10049 Boar is an incredible shave brush. It is my understanding that the knot is set a little lower than in the Omega Professional 1049. Whatever the setting it works. This brush is amazing.:happy096:
Reef Point Admiralty is a very good soap. I enjoy using it. Are they still in business?
Floid Blue is one of my favorites.
The Junichi Tanaka bowl is nice looking and works great.
All in all a great shave today.

Things changed a lot in GA due to Covid. Prior to Covid, you could get a learner's license at 15 after passing a written exam. This allowed you to drive with a licensed adult and practice. Your parent had to certify so many hours of practice in order for you to take your driver's license exam. Many parents like us paid for professional training to save money on our auto insurance. The 16 year old received a restricted license that allowed them to only drive certain hours during the day and limited the number of people in the car. At 18 you go in and have the restrictions removed.

During COVID they started issuing the restricted license without a drivers test. Now I guess they are going back and doing a modified test due to Covid. Given Myles age he feel into this group.

Fantastic lineup and shave report Amigo. Delta Echo is out of business. North Shore Razors provides a similar service.

Governor Kemp allowed everyone who had a permit for a year and a month up grade their learners to a full license, the stipulation would be that they would have to take the drivers test no later than September 30, 2020 or else their license would be downgraded back to their learners. all this occurred during the quarantine and I was one of those people that upgraded. Instead of driving on the road, I will basically have to do 2 and 3 point turns, parallel park, Signal and a few other simple things, they said the test should only take about 10 min. long.

The shave angle on the SS is a bit more obtuse. I really enjoy using it, but have to admit that since I figured out how to clean my neck up with a traditional straight, I do prefer them over the SS. I am planning to acquire Feather DX which I understand shave more like a traditional straight. The Feather Super delivers a great super close shave in the SS, and I imagine will do the same in the DX. You own the olive wood handled SS. That's one pretty razor, but I don't believe I've ever seen you shave with a rough looking razor since I've been a member here. I'm probably going to get the olive handled DX in the next month or two. Hope your day goes well.
