Glad you're back, Daniel! It's understandable that you were on hiatus considering your grandmother's health issues.

If you don't mind the clovey scent, then try Stirling's Bay Rum. Mind you, it's the only BR that I have tried.

Thanks, Joe! I just spent almost two hours with six successive slurry dilutions on my jasper stone followed by just water on the UF side of the stone, supposedly equivalent to 30k, probably just marketing hype. Then two levels of pasted strop (0.5, 0.25) followed by 30 strokes on my paddle leather strop. SWMBO is convinced I’ve lost my mind since I started straight shaving. I really enjoy the required almost zen-like focus every morning. So tomorrow I find out if I ruined a perfectly good edge! It looks like the edge I put on my Puma, which I really like. Oh well! :(

    Thanks, Joe!

Yeah, i really didn't have the time or energy to post here. It's obviously quite hard to take care of a close relative who is dying, but i felt like it's the right thing to do. Being isolated in a hospital for the last few months would be horrible, so it's better to be at home. Nurses visited daily and helped with the meds and so on.

I took a month after that and spent it at the countryside, just for my mental health.

    How have you been?

Most women will never understand our hobbies. To be fair, we will never understand theirs.

I am doing well. The NY gyms are open, but with limited capacity. I am glad to get back into it after a 5 and a half month hiatus. As a sub, I haven't been call back to the schools, but that is perfectly normal this time of year. Right now, I am going with the flow. My sympathies to you concerning your grandmother.

I owe no allegiance to B&M. In fact, I have divested all soaps and aftershaves from this company expect the Bay Rum Shave Soap. I am finished with theta company and am not going to purchase form them again.
From the soap, I get a strong Bay scent, and Bergamot. I don't know what benzoin is supposed to smell like, so, I can't say whether or not my nose picks it up. I get a but of clove, but I like that. To me, and this is if course subjective, it smell like Bay Rum. Silly, right?

Try Stephan's Bay Rum.....Nothing too fancy about the scent, but whatever cloves are there are well-blended in with lanolin, alcohol, and other things only a Chemistry teacher from Long Island can describe. Bay, too. Great skin food. I've been happy with it.

Thanks Paul, but my nasally congested nose would have a hard time distinguishing notes.

Yes, there has been some uncivil and criminal unrest as well as the Covid 19 pandemic throughout the US.

I hope it gets better over there soon.

Here hasn't been much of a pandemic really, but this is a very sparsely populated country, and here is only about 5.5 million people.
