A special day! 24 years ago today, About this time, I was getting up, shaving with a Gillette Mach 3.....on St. Lucia with my bride (we eloped). Hurricane on the north west view (skirted the island, but killed power for 36 hours), sunny calm partly cloudy sky on the south east view. Perfect foretelling personification & beach setting for a wedding. The photographer did both back drops :happy102:. Great sense of humor...... We ended up there for 16 days (instead of 7), as the hurricane flooded the Puerto Rico connection home. It was actually quite funny seeing some of the guests go absolutely nuts when US TV and sports weren't available (we never even turned the TV on). Wifey and I rented a sport bike to tour for 3 days, went on extra shark/manta ray and reef dives, more exploring, windsurfed and had a blast. When we finally got a flight home, that airport still had 18 inches of water some places we had to walk through.....Mother Nature showing us who's boss.

    Simpson Shaving Cream
    Shavemac Disco - 24mm 2 Band Badger
Feather AC DX - Kamisori style
    Feather Pro Super (3?)
    Zingari Man ASB
Al Haramain - L' Aventure EdT (Creed Aventus dupe)

Short and sweet....got shopping & errands to do. Artisans didn't get 'the list' given to me done and delivered. :shocked003:

Simpson shave cream, awesome bowl lather and face feel with the Shavemac 2 band badger (BST purchase). Feather AC DX loaded with it's intended blade, unforgiving! 1 set down error on the chin, 1 weeper on the neck. 1 Pass to BBS on the cheeks, DFS+ everywhere else, then another pass on the neck with extra buffing on the 'hollow' under the right jawline and hinge area. BBS results. Some ZM after shave balm (fairly thin, but not quite) and an Amazon reviewed favorite for a Creed Aventus clone.

Yesterday I mentioned I don't always do traditional grips on most open edge shaves, particularly large blades or kamisoris. It's results and control that matter to me. Here's a quick image of my favorite grip for Kamis. I can feel/control the angle based on the finger slide (not unlike a bike racer and using a knee/elbow puck):

Hope everyone has a Terrific Thursday!

Love seeing the vintage Trac II, Pierpaolo. Tell me what you like about how it shaves? Do you use a modified technique?

Great honeymoon story, Blair. Do you switch hands using that grip? What about ATG passes? :signs002:

Never looked at it that way, but you have a valid point. I'd opt for the latter as well, Evan!

I was able to read between the lines, and knew what you meant. You can save yourself some money with Midnight Stag. Next time you get gas in the car, just take a small container with you and put some gas in it. Same smell, cheaper price. :D

Classic G2 or TracII (not pivoting) is a nice double SE, IMHO.
As the other safety razors I know, most is about balance and technique.
This holder has a nice balance and helps my normal backward grip technique.

And I like to shoot It ...
    :p

    Thank you!

    Yes sir, both hands.

And yes again, for the ATG grip, it's slightly rotated (at first was awkward), the thumb becomes the slide for the south to north stroke.

    Homemade Stuff Shave

Razor: The Shiv (1095 steel and electrical tape)
Brush: Aluminum Chubby 2 style with Silvertip knot
SS: Razorock Nomad (because I have never made soap)
AS: Blinker Fluid (Vodka, glycerin, vitamin E, and Creed Aventus dup scented oil.)

If only I had some homemade soap. The shave was nice. The Shiv doesn't give much audio feedback. So I always feel like I'm shaving by faith. Throws me off a bit every time. Excellent 3 pass shave to a DFS finish. One spot of blood in the used lather but I never located the source. Must have been left over from my fight in the yard yesterday.

Awesome photo of the gear, Pierpaolo! I have a Trac II handle, but have never tried it. I know some folks say that Trac II is a nice shaver, for being a cart. Maybe someday....

Great Covid free GEM Junior shave, Jason! They're nice shavers...gotta love that "buttering toast" sound. Your thoughts on Maol Grooming splash is something I've heard before. I keep forgetting to add a bottle to orders. I wonder how the CL splashes will be now that Declaration Grooming is making them all. I'm going to guess that they're fine, even if they aren't truly Chatillon Lux anymore. I understand why he made the change, but am bummed by it.
