Great! That's pretty good for a first shave. Of course, as you get more comfortable and proficient, the speed of the shave will increase. I remember the first time I shaved with an SER, I was gently shaking as I maneuvered the blade on my neck -- quite a bit nervous. I had just switched from an electric razor back to a Mach3 for a few weeks before I started directly with the SER.
Even better shave last night, I love the weight of the round blade...bring me one home please..lol. I had to hide my jewelers files so I wouldnt make the tops of both blades match, its such a handsome blade.

Updated the list again; the only remaining activity is Baloosh. Due to my recent PCS, and temporary lodging situation, I am postponing shipment for a short period. I want that ERN back...I fell in love with her, I can only dream to find the way she shaved as she did...sitting slightly spread on the counter waiting for me to get hot and lathered before she would open up, she gleamed at me with a smile that said IM yours...do with me want you want. But alas Chris took her back....maybe I will find her sister oneday...such a fine spine she had. Issy
Just curious to see where we are with the trial. We have had success converting members so it would be great if we can keep this idea alive. So who has the blades? Any progress reports? is there a holiday break in the trial? Merry Christmas Chris!!! Raf
I shipped my loaner items back to Chris last week.. should arrive sometime this week, given the holidays and all. I believe I was the only one with any items still outstanding. The entire process was excellent, and I was DEFINITELY lucky to have been given a chance to try out the straight razor and stropping process before deciding whether or not to invest and continue with straights. Just my humble opinion, but if others are interested after the holidays, it should definitely be continued.
Well, I just haven't had enough time to perform the maintenance on all of the returned kits (Jason's is the only one still in transit back to me). Some of the razors need honing, and the strops need some attention too. My last post said that I was getting settled in after my PCS move (that's still true), but no one has approached me (PM, e-mail, etc.) to get on the list either.
I put out a pm to you. I just posted a WTB for a str8 on SRP. This passaround would enable me to get a better idea if str8 is for me. Trying a few different bevels/styles is very appreciated If I can be a part of this pass, I would delay buying a straight and strop. WONDERFUL!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS Tom
What a splendid time for this to be rolling around my way. Am I a Straight Edge Razor user? What sizes and types of str8 do I like? If only life had more people to aid in experiencing it;....it would be an easier journey. Thanks Tom
I'd like to take a minute again to thank Chris for this wonderful opportunity. Now that the razors have FINALLY made it back to him, I can put in my overall findings. I didn't use the smaller 4/8 blade as much as the 6/8, but I did notice that by the end, both of them seemed pretty dull. That was probably due more to my lack of technique on the 4/8 than anything else. I never did quite get the stropping thing down, but it's definitely something to look forward to! I just found the 6/8 felt better in my hand, and I could actually maneuver it around my face easier than that 4/8, for whatever reason(s). Weird huh? I definitely plan on picking up a start package -- 6/8 straight, strop, hone, etc. I've learned that straights are a nice alternative to DE razors, and something I will grow to appreciate very soon!
